Here's a suggestion, actually watch some Italian football.
Well they aren't going to win it, they won't come close to winning it - and if they're not going to win it then they're going to go out aren't they? They've gone out for the last god knows how mant tournaments in a row.

They'll qualify from the group though, Italy and the USA

Jager, I wouldn't get upset about people writing off Italy's chances. The national team has condemned itself to it's current sh!tty, underachieving reputation - regardless of what happened at the last Mondiale, recent history continues to paint the picture of an 'all bark, no bite' team of egos.
It's up to them to change this perception, not us to defend them.
Italy to progress without dropping a point or conceding a goal. Now that's optimism.

Well, it bolds well, as the underdog reputation suits us well.

Personally I find it hard to believe that any one would even question a defense with Canna and Nesta, then Buffon in goal. That won't be broke down easily.

The question is, can the Americans and Ghana break them down?

Our failures of late have been on the offensive side of things, and not putting away teams. I have this distinct feeling that this won't happen this time around.

Italy and the USofA should do it...

The US have arguably their strongest ever team/squad and the Italians are also very well equiped for this world cup. The Czechs are good but not as strong as they were in 2002. Ghana just don't have the depth and experience to do much, Essien or not...

It has to be Italy and the Czech Rep. USA aren't used to playing against decent teams and won't be able to get the better of them.

The US plays Japan, Poland and Germany, all WC squads, in the next month, and they'll probably play at least two more big friendlies before the start of the Cup. They'll be ready.

The Czech have a good midfield with Nedved leading it and their strike force argueably unquestionably good...with Baros (lead scorer in Euro Cuup 2004) and Koller...though what lets them down IMO is the lack of teamwork in their defence, they're never able to clear the ball off the line convincingly...and I reckon this is one of their complications of reaching the 2nd round of the WC

A few friendlies is no match to the international experience Italy and the Czechs have.

All that international experience has served the Italians really well in the last few years, hasn't it?
