He's a bit more than average. An own goal is indeed onfurtunate. JT knows a bit about that as well. The reason is say that is above average is that although he does not have Andrade's speed, Meira was a former defensive midfielder at SL Benfica. He still often plays this role. He is excellent in attack and he is a big player at 6'2 and 190 lbs. He is good in the air and a fierce defender. He will surprise you.

Meira scores goals and yes own goals are a mistake by a player.
I consider meira better then Caneira thats my opinion.
But look for Miguel and Nelson to be named to.

Meira is nowhere near good enough to replace Andrade...You have much better central defenders playing in Portugal right now.
Ferreira is a top fullback who is just as good on the left as on the right for Chelsea...he should start.

Meira can score goals but you can never replace Andrade the guy is a machine.
But still we have good option no need to panic.

Who would you recomend. I do not see a better replacement than Meira. Being a Benfica fan maybe I am biased, being that Meira is our former captain. Losing Andrade hurts, but Meira is a tall and strong CB. At 6'2, 183, he is an intimidating figure. He starts every game at Stuttgart and we know how tough the Bundesliga is. Frankly I do not see anyone better currently playing in Portugal. |

It looks like Quaresma was left off the under 21 squad>Could this be his chance to shine?
If he makes the NT I will be very excited to see him with the team he already accomplished alot with the Under 21 team.
