Smith: Promotion race so exciting

Watford winger Tommy Smith believes the Championship promotion race will go "down to the wire" after the Hornets regained top spot on Saturday.

Smith headed in his third goal in two games in the 2-1 win at Ipswich which saw Adrian Boothroyd's side climb back above West Brom.

But Smith insists the unpredictable nature of the division will see the club waiting until May to see if they can seal a place back to the Premier League.

He said: "It's going to be really tight and go down to the wire because this is such a tough division.

"Every week you get three or four big shocks and there's bound to be a few twists and turns between now and the end of the season.

"But all we can do is keep plugging away and we're definitely capable of staying near the top."
