Exclamation King going nowhere, insists Boothroyd

Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd says there is no way Marlon King will be joining Fulham, insisting neither he nor King want the move to happen.

King was the subject of a failed £4million bid from the Premier League strugglers this week and turned in a subdued performance in the Hornets' 1-0 defeat at Preston on Saturday.

However Boothroyd said: "At this time of year there is a lot of speculation and when you have good players and you are successful then people are going to come for your players.

"But it is quite simple - we don't need to sell. Especially to a club who we might be changing places with.

"In order for a player to move I've got to want him to go, the player has got to want to leave, the money has got to be right and there has got to be a replacement.

"None of those four criteria are being met so I don't care how many times it gets flashed across Sky Sports News or how much speculation there is, I want him to stay so he stays. That's it.

"I don't need any money so there is no fee for Marlon."

King to Fulham and Ashikodi and McNamee to Swindon. Not very insistant Adrian so close to promotion.

Ashikodi is 7th choice striker 20 years old looking to get experience.

McNamee is inconsistent and hasnt played a league game this season.

If we get a midfield general with the money from Marlon we should go up.

It doesn't look like this is happening after all though, does it?

There were the reports about problems with his knee screwing up his medical & there hasn't been much news since. Watford still have a chance in hanging onto him cos otherwise he'd be at Fulham by now...

yeh it doesnt look promising for Marlon.

Bit of a tit doing that interview when he hadnt even signed.

Plus our chairmen isnt very happy with him.

Either way we get Collins John so if Marlon stays we have loads of firepower but lack a decent centre midfielder

MARLON KING has been told he may have to quit the game in three years due to the condition of his knee.

The 27-year-old underwent a stringent two-day medical at Craven Cottage at the weekend after Watford accepted a £5m cash offer for the 11-goal striker.

Tests and scans revealed King has a deteriorating problem in his right knee and it understood that the problem is inoperable.

In November 2006, King underwent complex surgery to repair a small tear in his meniscus but upon closer inspection, the surgeon discovered there was piece of cartilage flapping and a bit of bone had come away. The operation sidelined King for six months.

In light of the results of the medical, Fulham asked Watford to drop the asking price and renegotiate the deal on a year-by-by installent basis. The Hornets rejected the proposal and are understood to have made it clear King has no future at Vicarage Road.

Fulham may even end their interest altogether after signing Erik Nevland yesterday (Monday), leaving King in limbo.

Indeed, Hodgson already looks to have turned his attention to Daniel Cousins, the Glasgow Rangers striker.

he's gone to Wigan.

good luck to him. He's done well at Watford and deserves a crack at the prem as he is too good for champ level.

£4/5m towards a midfielder and a left winger where we need strenghtening will do us a great help. Also a cover for Shittu.

as we have loads of capable strikers with Henderson, Ellington, Priskin and now John. Even Hoskins and Kabba who are both to be out the door soon.
