Boothroyd won't go easy on Ellington
Adrian Boothroyd has promised "a kick up the backside" for new signing Nathan Ellington if he fails to perform for Watford.
The Hornets brought in forward Ellington from West Brom last week for an initial £3.25million - a club record - but Boothroyd warned the 26-year-old he would receive no preferential treatment.
Boothroyd said: "He is going to be cuddled, loved - and he is going to get a kick up the backside when he needs one.
"Just like everyone else, Nathan will be expected to push himself and develop. He can make a goal out of nothing.
"I have spent a lot of time looking at him, and I tried to sign him last year, for the Premiership. When you consider what he is as a talent, he lost his way at West Brom."
