A good win without playing really well. Ipswich had alot of the ball 2nd half but didnt really threaten atall. Dont think Poom really had to make a save. Counago is a diver.

Poom 7 - Some good catches, some dodgey kicks

Doyley 7 - Usual display from Lloyd. Some fantastic defending at times. Some improved long balls but then the same old in the stand.
Shittu 7 - First half looked a bit slow didnt always win the ball in the air. Still did well and some good couple of runs out of defence.
DeMerit 6 - Some good recovery tackles and won alot in the air. Gave the ball away carelessly.
Stewart 5/6 - Did a couple of great last ditch tackles, but seemed very laid back and was awful in possesion at times.

Smith 7 - Wouldnt say he was MOTM as they said at the end. Quality goal. Still struggling to find form though doesnt help when he wants it to feet from Doyley.
Williamson 6/7 - Good first half, wins the ball well, gets forward. But 2nd half he was a bit quiet, probably being over run doing running for 2.
Mahon 5 - Generally poor. A few occasional moments where he did alright. Gave away alot of silly fouls, 1 throw in he was too busy organising the defence and not facing play.
McAnuff 6 - Doesnt really get into the game due to not getting the ball. But late on 2nd half he had a good shot, couple of good runs and set Willow on his way.

King 6/7 - We try to play everything through him too much and the service isnt always good. But he wasnt at his best today.
Henderson 7 - Such a fighter and nuisance upfront. Good that he scored a goal too.

Ellington 7 - Showed some great moments of quality when he came on. Good touch and getting away a shot. Hit the post.
O'Toole - Didnt really get a chance to impress.

we played well at times and probably deserved the win. the defence was very impressive. we looked quite dangerous going forward, especially on the counter.

doyley was fucking brilliant until about the 70th minute, then he just lost it completely (after that pass which nearly hit elton). no one player really had a stand out game, great or bad. it was more of a team performance. if i were to do player ratings it would be like this:

Poom 6
Doyley 7.5
Shittu 7
Demerit 7
Stewart 7
Smith 7
Mahon 6
Williamson 6.5
McAnuff 6.5
King 7
Henderson 7

Yeh Doyley was good I admit untill roughly that time. He fucked up a few defensive things aswell late on.

As you said no one standed out, players showed glimpses of good play.

Ellington looks quality though. He will make goals out of nothing. He had a couple of chances. That one which hit the post was so unlucky.

Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd on the club's striking options:
"I think I'm blessed. I've got a group of five strikers pushing for a starting place and nobody can be complacent.
"Everybody will get pushed. Darius has proved that he can get goals and Marlon King has obviously proved that.

"Now Nathan comes on for 15 minutes and he's hit the post and causes havoc."

i don't know how that didn't go in, it was really unlucky, basically his first touch of the game as well. it will be interesting to see who plays up front against southampton, it would be quite harsh to drop henderson after today.

I was in the vic end. Looked like the keeper fucked up for Hendo's goal.

Hendo gives everything. Love how he bullies defenders. Still misses a few chances.

It's defo between them 3. King hasnt done amazing yet but you cant really drop him.

Shittu was a bit dodgey in the first half. On there day him and DeMerit are immense but can be dog turd.
