Hornets sign Ellington
Watford will end Nathan Ellington's West Brom nightmare this week by offering £3.5million for him before Friday's transfer deadline.
The 26-year-old has failed to hold down a regular first-team place at The Hawthorns since joining for £3million from Wigan.
And he has fallen well down the striker pecking order under Albion boss Tony Mowbray, who has signed Craig Beattie and Polish hitman Bartosz Slusarski this summer and plans to further strengthen his forward options before Friday.
Hearts forward Roman Bednar is on Mowbray's wanted list, and having seen a loan deal fail, the Baggies chief is willing to offload Ellington in order to generate funds for a cash bid for Bednar.
Watford are keen on Ellington as Darius Henderson wants to quit Vicarage Road after seeing them turn down a £1.5million bid from Fulham.
Hornets gaffer Adrian Boothroyd feels Ellington could form a prolific partnership with powerful striker Marlon King so is ready to lodge a £3.5million offer, according to The Mirror.

Watford have completed the signing of West Brom striker Nathan Ellington for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal at Vicarage Road, in a transfer that ends an unsettled summer for Ellington.
The former Wigan attacker was reportedly unhappy after Baggies boss Tony Mowbray brought in a number of striking reinforcements in pre-season, and has now moved on as he attempts to find the form that once secured him 24 goals in the 2004-05 season.
A fee for Ellington has not been revealed, although a £3million price-tag is believed to have previously been slapped upon the striker.
Hornets' manager Adrian Boothroyd had revealed his interest in Ellington, stating that he was a player that he had admired for a 'very, very long time' and will undoubtedly be delighted to secure his signature.
Ellington scored for the final time in West Brom colours in Tuesday's Carling Cup clash with Peterborough, in which he netted the second goal in a 2-0 victory.
Boothroyd is now in possession of one of the Championship's largest attacks, with Marlon King, Tamas Priskin, Tommy Smith, Darius Henderson, Steve Kabba and Will Hoskins also at his disposal.

His record in this league is second to none.
And he got 8 goals when they where in the prem and I bet he wasnt much of a starter.
I'm happy it shows some ambition, he is a very good striker and hope he does the business at this club.
We got alot of strikers now: King, Ellington, Henderson, Priskin, Kabba, Hoskins, Ashikodi
we got young Theo Robinsons banging them in for Heroford against Birmingham last night who can come back in Jan if there isnt another fire power.
Once Smith and McAnuff sort themselves out our attacking options are definetly up there easily.
He scores some beauties just looking at his youtube / watford world clips of him
Aidy wanted to sign him in Jan.

good signing, he is proven at this level and hopefully he can forge a good partnership with king. i guess henderson will now leave which is a shame, but he wants to go and we have a replacement now.
if we did pay £3m for him then that's a club record isn't it? which is good to see.

Adrian Boothroyd says the signing of Nathan Ellington is the "key piece in the jigsaw" following his transfer from West Brom.
The Hornets have made the 26-year-old their club-record signing with a £3.25million deal, rising to £4.25million on appearances.
"I think it's impressive that this club has gone out and made as bold a statement as it has with this transfer," Boothroyd told the club's website.
"I'm a relieved manager because this was the big one for me, the key piece in the jigsaw. We've been monitoring him for a long time and we had tried to get him in January but were unable to.
"It's been a long chase but (chief executive) Mark Ashton, myself and the chairman has worked really hard to get this player in.
"I think Nathan will be a great assets to this club, he is extremely talented and a really exciting player for the fans. He can score all types of goals, with left foot, right foot, headers, tap-ins, goals from outside the box and he could prove to be really potent for us."
