We Know What We've Got To Do
Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all well and have had a great summer break and have come back ready for some more football, I certainly have.
We’ve been back in pre-season training for some six weeks now and although it’s flown by, Saturday’s game feels like an age away for me, perhaps that’s because we’re so close to it that you can almost touch it.
One thing's for sure though and that’s that when we cross that white line at Molineux on Saturday we’ll be ready, and we know what we’ve got to do.
Saturday’s game at Wolves couldn’t be tougher, a team who know their way around the Championship, a manager that I’ve great respect for in Mick McCarthy, and a big club with plenty of their own expectations after their near miss last season.
But as big as they are I couldn’t have been more pleased with the opening day draw, because it means that we can be under no illusions as to how quickly we have to get out of the blocks.
I know I keep saying it – and I’ll make no apologies for boring you with it again – but we’re going to need you more than ever this season because we’ve a mountain to climb here, and we need our support team if we’re to reach the peak.
Your patience and understanding in my time at this club has been brilliant and I know that’ll be the same again this season. All I can promise in return is that my staff and players will give absolutely everything they’ve got to give, and so will I.
That’s always been the basis for this Watford team since I’ve been here and believe me it won’t change.
We’re a far wiser and stronger team than started the Championship season in 2005, and we all know from that experience what can be achieved with the right people, attitude and belief.
As of today I know that the right people are here, I know that their attitude is right and I know that they believe they can achieve something more, hopefully something great.
Come On!
