Mahon out to earn new contract
Watford skipper Gavin Mahon admits he is playing for his Vicarage Road future this season - and the midfielder has vowed to earn a new deal.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the campaign, and has not yet been offered a new deal by manager Adrian Boothroyd.
Mahon said: "I have only a year left here, so I need to play as many games as possible.
"I am playing to get a contract, and there is a lot of competition for places in central midfield."
This is good because he will have to play well. In the full interview he admits he was poor second half of the season as he was taking his captain role too seriously which I even 'pointed' out at the time.
