Here's a report from a Watford fan who went out there:
îåòãåï ñôåøè îëáé çéôä Maccabi Haifa Sport Club
poor goals to concede. Our goal was quality, quick attack with pace and good movement. Shittu and Jackson dont work together.
The first 20mins was pretty even started at quite a fast pace, Bouazza and McaNuff were dangerous out wide, Marlon and Tamas were making good runs, but once Haifa settled down they played some very good football, their passing and movement was superb. Our defence looked a little off the pace and through balls were causing Shittu and Jackson problems. By the way Jackson has been an awesome talker in the two games a really good talker/motivator-well impressed, and for 2 of the goals Poom, who was superb Tuesday was slow off his line and could've done better maybe but they were good finishes.
We created very little until the final 20mins, Marlon was making good runs, but whinged a lot when he didn't get the ball, Tamas held the ball up but shots were few and far between despite good runs by Stewart-who was excellent yesterday Bouazza and Jobi. Williamson did ok although him and Mahon-few good passes but ineffective but the two were playing side by side and too close together leaving big gaps in the middle.
I think Haifa only had about 7 shots but they were all either goals or very close and their class was obvious with some good football, as all we could muster was long balls upto the front two, very frustrating. Shittu won everything in the air, Mariappa did ok, and Bouazza constantly looked dangerous even when moved up front and scored a good goal.
To be fair the pitch was crap, dry, and really long grass so this didn't help but our good passing attacking footy from Tuesday never looked like making an appearance, Hoskins came on but didn't look like a threat, but Doyley got stuck in and made a few good challenges. I think we have to right it off as being well beaten by a good team, it was good for fitness but shame we couldn't take Tuesdays positives into the game. There were about 45 Watford out there and quite a few locals. Even Aidy was surprised by just how well they played, in a quite physical game, but we can learn a lot from opposition like that. As you've probably read Paddys updates a good trip thanks to all the guys we met up with who made the trip such a good laugh, and see who comes in before Wolves as I don't think Aidys quite happy yet.
