Default Valencia To Free Three And Five More To Follow

Valencia To Free Three And Five More To Follow

Quote:

Valencia are struggling in their quest to trim their huge squad and may have to allow a trio of formerly valuable stars to leave on free transfers.

Hugo Viana, Fabián Estoyanoff and Mario Regueiro are not part of new boss Unai Emery's plans, but there have been no offers and no interest shown in an of them.

That, according to their agents, is down to the fact that no club will pay a fee for players that they know are not wanted by los Ché.

With 37 professionals on their books, Valencia need to continue to trim and are in negotiations with the trio about allowing to leave on free transfers, but without any compensation being paid.

Viana has thre years left on his contract and Estoyanoff and Regueiro have two on each of theirs, which combined amount to around €6m in wages that the club want to write off.

Marco Caneira has joined Sporting Lisbon and Sunny has been sent on loan to Osasuna and Valencia now want to sell at least another five players in the next few weeks.

Manuel Fernandes, Éver Banega, Jaime Gavilán, Sisi and Ludovic Butelle will not be allowed to leave on a free as there has been reported interest for all of them.

If no permanent deals can be agreed for any of them, however, then Valencia will consider letting them go on loan just to ensure that the wage bill continues to be reduced.

The success of these moves could influence whether the club has to sell any of its' star names, such as David Villa, David Silva or Joaquín.

Haven't followed Valencia much last season.. Did Éver Banega play much? Did he dissapoint?

Because there was so much hype around him when he signed, and now they are ready to let him leave, on loan or on a permanent deal.

Since he joined in January he's played most of the games either as a starter or sub as he was a player that Koeman brought in himself, he's looked alright but not fantastic. He still has loads of potential so I'm suprised that Unai Emery doesn't want to keep him.

The reason he's being sold I think is because the new manager doesn't have him in his plans and will probably try to cut their losses slightly by trying to get about £8m for him to pay for part of the £13m that they paid.
