Albelda, Cañizares And Angulo Back
Albelda, Cañizares And Angulo Back In At Valencia
Quote:
The new trainer, who real name is Salvador González Marco, took over from Ronald Koeman at Mestalla this week and has made a bold first move to welcome back the trio of outcasts.
In his first press conference as coach, Voro stated that Albelda, Cañizares and Angulo would form part of his 25-man squad as he requires every player to help the club avoid relegation.
"The three players form part of the 25-man first team squad and are like any other of the players. If I think they are ready to play, they'll play," confirmed the club's new coach. "They haven't had a game for four months and we are playing for our lives in a very short space of time.
"In addition to not having played, there also is their state of mind to consider because they have gone through a difficult situation. But I will pick them if I think they can contribute to the team. But I don't want a sporting decision to be interpreted as a political one. I want to be very clear on this issue."
Soon after Koeman's arrival before Christmas the three stars were singled out and told that they were no longer part of the club's plans and could look for new teams.
Whether the orders came from the Dutchman or from former president Juan Soler is unclear, but the new man in charge is not prepared to allow the three Spanish internationals to not play.
Albelda was so incensed at being told to move on and then have a €60m price tag put on his head that he sued the club in order to gain a free transfer with Tottenham Hotspur said to be watching the situation.
During their absence, the trio gained support from some members of the squad and were criticised for trying to run the team before being frozen out by others such as Rubén Baraja.
Their return will certainly add quality and depth to Voro's options, but may well cause friction within an already troubled set-up at Valencia.

Big news, bit of a surprise since the board were supposedly in on the trio being removed from the start but desperate times call for desperate measures....
