Valencia are currently 14th!!! Terrible.

Without Quique Flores' wins at the start of the season they'll be in the relegation places, I don't think even the Copa del Rey will save Koeman. Everyone else including me would have fired him 10 matchdays ago.

Where do you think they'll finish. How low will they go with 7 games to go?

Pat could you possibly post their last 7 fixtures?

[EDIT]: Thanks beat me to it

So ten points from what I've predicted.

I think that they will end up roughly between 11-14...obviously it depends on what the other teams do around them but I think they will stay roughly where they are... I like the option for them to be champions

Totally psychic.

They've got UEFA Cup football next season due to being in the Copa del Rey final which will be played on the 16th April. Due to having UEFA Cup football they've been lucky in that it doesn't matter too much where they finish as long as it's not relegation.

Also most of the stars will stay because of the UEFA Cup football although expect Villa to leave.

Do they not have to win the Copa Del Rey to actually get in the UEFA Cup or do both teams in the final get it?

I see them getting around 8 or 9 more points, and I'm gonna predict a 12th place finish...

Na Getafe finished about 10th last season and finished runners-up in the Copa del Rey and they're currently in the UEFA Cup Quarter Final. Used to be the same in England unless they changed it as I remember Millwall getting into the UEFA Cup.

I think a key game will be Valencia vs Zaragoza at the Mestalla. If Valencia lose that they're in deep trouble. I think 7 points is about the most they'll get (probably beating Osasuna and Zargoza, drawing against Levante and losing the rest.) Even so 7 points should be enough to save them from relegation so I think round about 14th-15th, should have put that option in the poll.

That was because the Champions that year were United, who were already in the Champions League so the spot went to the runners-up.

I think it's different in England because the winner of the Carling Cup gets a spot in the UEFA Cup as well...

A draw with Levante? But they're terrible...

I thought they'd get 3 points off both Levante and Osasuna and draw with Zaragoza, Bilbao and possibly Racing.

Levante got a draw at the Mestalla tho and Valencia are probably worse now and Levante will be really fired up to beat their city rivals. All their away games are practically a write-off, especially against Bilbao who hammered them 3-0 at the Mestalla and are currently 8th. Racing are solid and I don't think Valencia will score and Racing should get the odd goal.

I think even Zaragoza and Osasuna could win, it's really unpredictable on results in La Liga, especially for Valencia's winning prospects.

Exactly, it's so unpredictable, but Valencia managed to beat Real like 2 weeks ago and noone would have seen that coming...

Valencia are only 4 points off Bilbao so it shows how close it all is since between 8th and 14th there's only 4 points so anyone should be able to take points from anyone down there.

April
Sat. 12 Valencia vs Racing Santander - A -> Racing are too strong for poor Valencia atm

Sun. 20 Athletic Bilbao vs Valencia - D -> Bilbao are pretty inconsistent, much like Valencia, so this could swing either way. but I expect a draw

Sun. 27 Valencia vs Osasuna - H -> Osasuna haven't that great this season, I can see them lose this one

May
Sun. 4 Barcelona vs Valencia - D -> this one was just to piss off Patricia Seriously though, they nearly won at Camp Nou in the cup, if it wasn't for Xavi's last minute strike and Koeman seems to do well in big games.

Wed. 7 Valencia vs Real Zaragoza - H -> if they win this, they'll most likely stay in La Liga, so some players might rise to the occasion

Sun. 11 Levante vs Valencia - A -> Levante did well vs Madrid at home from what I remember and the fact that these 2 clubs are rivals, will give them an extra motivation

Sun. 18 Valencia vs Atlético Madrid - D -> Madrid rely on 2/3 players, atm Aguero, Maxi and Simao. Valencia already beat Atletico in the cup, IMO they'll get at least draw.

Of course these are just predictions, in football you just never know what can happen, but Valencia have too many quality in their side to get relegated.

After their 2-1 defeat at home to Racing Santander last weekend the table now stands like this.....

(brackets for points gained in MD32)

4. Atletico Madrid 54 (+1)
5. Racing Santander 53 (+3)
6. Sevilla 51 (+3)
7. Almeria 45 (+3)
8. Espanyol 45 (0)
9. Deportivo Coruna 43 (+3)
10. Athletic Bilbao 43 (0)
11. Mallorca 41 (0)
12. Getafe 41 (+1)
13. Real Betis 41 (0)
14. Osasuna 40 (+3)
15. Valladolid 39 (+1)
16. Valencia 39 (0)
17. Recre Huelva 37 (+1)
18. Real Zaragoza 34 (+1)
19. Murcia 29 (0)
20. Levante 22 (+3)

Now just 5 points above relegation as they drop 2 places. Valencia vs Zaragoza will be key. Valencia were 4th when Koeman took over no one would have predicted bottom 5 for Valencia at the start of the season.

They were terrible at Bilbao on Sunday. The defence was simply atrocious, so was the goalkeeper. They couldnt handle Llorente, and the midfield got completely over-ran.

Koeman is gone, be interesting to see whether the players pick themselves up after his disastrous reign. You'd think that Villa, Morientes, Joaquin, Silva, Vicente, Banega, Helguera, Maduro et al would have enough about them to get 5 or 6 more points, and then look to next season. They have already guaranteed a UEFA Cup slot so they could have a kind of platform to build on in the summer.

Incidentally, what does Koeman's departure do for the future of Canizares, Albelda & Angulo?? If anything?
