Default Villarreal 3 - 0 Valencia

3-0
Pires(6)_____________________________
Capdevilla(63)_____________________________
Nihat(70)________________________________

Valencia what is wrong with this club ? Really what has Koeman done in the past 2 months ? I really don’t see any improvement from the time Quique was there and at least he was able to grind out wins.

They all look lost. Vicente looks nothing like the player he once was, and can’t even run past anyone down the left without falling over or losing control of the ball, but i’m being harsh, since he has been out for a long time. Villa did not have any affect on the game, but he just came back and Arizmendi at Right back :ninja I think he could take Ramos’s place in the Spanish NT side :laugh

Seriously sad to see them like this. Villarreal totally controlled this game well apart from the start of the second half when they were a bit out of sorts. First half though they completely embarrassed Valencia and should’ve been up by 3/4 goals. Pires opened the scoring with a beautiful goal, this was so like the Pires we use to see at Arsenal, just oozes class. Going past Joaquin easily and then nutmegging the great right back Arizmendi and passing it to Nihat who then returns the ball back to Pires who curled a great shot from the edge of the penalty box to the other side of the goal.

Nihat was also unlucky with hitting the post twice with his free kick coming off the right post and then missing a great chance in the box. Only threat from Valencia came from a long range shot from Baraja which Diego Lopez tipped onto the crossbar.

For the first 15mins or so of the second half the game was pretty scruffy and had no fluidity from both sides. But then Cani opened up some space for himself, but he was unlucky with his shot hitting the crossbar, though that moment of luck for Valencia meant nothing with Capdevilla scoring from the following corner and it looked like Valencia were in for another embarrassing defeat. That wasn’t too far from the truth with Nihat finally getting a goal with a neat finish past Hildebrand.

What a brilliant tactical lesson that Pellegrini gave to Koeman.

Villarreal's players were all over the place, not once was Valencia able to use the counterattack. And they were awesome going forward, Valencia's defense was powerless against Rossi/Pires (man of the match for me)/Nihat (close second).
I can only imagine if Fernandez was fit, he would have killed Valencia even more.

Absolutely deserved win for Villarreal, like pibe said, it could have easily been 4-0 at HT. The only dangerous play I can remember from Valencia was Baraja's shot, which Diego Lopez made a great reflex save.

Btw, the ref was absolutely atrocious, what a shit ref this Perez Bujo or whatever his name is. There were so many tackles which deserved a yellow card or even red, that ref let it go by only calling a foul.
Marchena should have been sent off before the 30th minute, for example.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.
"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

Many are saying that Valencia are lacking a true leader on the pitch and without Albelda to lead them they seem lost tbf. Koeman came in made some weird decisions but his decisions are definitely not helping the team improve.

Villa was poor yesterday but i guess having a stop start season will do that to you. With Zigic on the field it seems all they do is just try and get a cross in and hope he can convert. Silva and Vicente were also pretty poor.

Pires scored an amazing goal and Villareal definitely deserved to win. The 2nd goal for Villareal was quite lucky from the corner but tbh they deserved to be up by more at that stage in the game.

The ref was shite, the Valenica defenders kept on coming into the back of Villareal players and the ref wouldn't give anything.

Koeman definitely needs to get his act together as do the Valencia players and they need to get back to the form that they were in last season.

Villarreal complete a 3-0 double over their neighbours, home and away.

I would have sacked Koeman by now (wouldn't have had him in the first place) but the board must truly be thinking about replacing him soon.
