Valencia what is wrong with this club ? Really what has Koeman done in the past 2 months ? I really don’t see any improvement from the time Quique was there and at least he was able to grind out wins.
They all look lost. Vicente looks nothing like the player he once was, and can’t even run past anyone down the left without falling over or losing control of the ball, but i’m being harsh, since he has been out for a long time. Villa did not have any affect on the game, but he just came back and Arizmendi at Right back :ninja I think he could take Ramos’s place in the Spanish NT side :laugh
Seriously sad to see them like this. Villarreal totally controlled this game well apart from the start of the second half when they were a bit out of sorts. First half though they completely embarrassed Valencia and should’ve been up by 3/4 goals. Pires opened the scoring with a beautiful goal, this was so like the Pires we use to see at Arsenal, just oozes class. Going past Joaquin easily and then nutmegging the great right back Arizmendi and passing it to Nihat who then returns the ball back to Pires who curled a great shot from the edge of the penalty box to the other side of the goal.
Nihat was also unlucky with hitting the post twice with his free kick coming off the right post and then missing a great chance in the box. Only threat from Valencia came from a long range shot from Baraja which Diego Lopez tipped onto the crossbar.
For the first 15mins or so of the second half the game was pretty scruffy and had no fluidity from both sides. But then Cani opened up some space for himself, but he was unlucky with his shot hitting the crossbar, though that moment of luck for Valencia meant nothing with Capdevilla scoring from the following corner and it looked like Valencia were in for another embarrassing defeat. That wasn’t too far from the truth with Nihat finally getting a goal with a neat finish past Hildebrand.
