Banega Confirms Valencia Move
Valencia Agree Verbal Deal For Boca's Banega
Quote:
Valencia have reached a verbal agreement with Boca Juniors to sign Éver Banega for around €18m and will off-load Manuel Fernandes to fund the deal, according to a report in Spain.
Los Ché are determined to begin to rebuild their squad and the confidence of their supporters after a dreadful run of results and see the 19-year-old midfielder as crucial to that plan.
Benega is a rising star in Argentina and has been targetted by the Spanish club's sporting director, Miguel Ángel Ruiz, to slot in the team's midfield, according to AS.
The player's agent has also confirmed that negotiations have now reached a criticial stage and that a written agreement is now being mapped out.
Ángel Ruiz, along with the finance director, Miguel Gonzálvez, are working on a deal that will see Banega, who does not hold a European passport, put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal.
Koeman has given the green light to the operation and is expected to show the Argentina Under-20 starlet around the club when he arrives in Spain on January 3.
Banega was one of the stars of the Argentinian side that won the FIFA under-20 World Cup in Canada and was also part of the Boca Juniors set-up that lifted the Copa Libertadores.
As well as looking to off-load Santiago Cańizares, David Albelda and Miguel Ángel Angulo, Valencia will also hope to find a quick exit for Manuel Fernandes.
The Portuguese midfielder moved to Mestalla in the summer from Benfica after spending last season on loan in England with Portsmouth and Everton.

Well Valencia will be annoyed that Real Madrid have first option on Banega
Maybe Madrid will decide they don't need him or at least not for £10m.

Banega Confirms Valencia Move
Quote:
Éver Banega has confirmed that he will join Valencia and is hoping to repay the faith that the Spanish club have in him by playing like he has been for Boca Juniors.
The 19-year-old midfielder will fly to Spain to finalise a five-year deal at Mestalla as he becomes Ronald Koeman's first signing of the winter transfer window.
Real Madrid ignored their first option clause and Valencia will now wrap up the deal and Banega is delighted to have been given a chance to join the club.
Apparently, Los Che paid a mammoth 18 million euros for the Argentine, and although the player has yet to sign a contract, he will officially do so today or tomorrow.
"I have a unique opportunity to go to Valencia and I will aim to my very best in the same way that I have done for Boca," he explained. "They are a great team.
"Now it is my chance to try and do my best in the team and also on a personal level. I want to take advantage of the opportunity that they have offered me.
"I am very grateful and I will try to help the side all I can."
Banega went on to explain that he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his compatriots like Mario Kempes, Kily González and Claudio López, who were all idolised at the club.
Juventus, Chelsea and Atlético de Madrid were also said to be interested after the playmaker helped Argentina to Under-20 glory in the recent World Cup in Canada.

It's confirmed by Banega then that he'll move to Valencia.
Banega in might mean Manuel Fernandes out.

That first option expired december 31th. You paid 1 million euro for that first option, all down the drain

I'm very keen to see him play.
