Soriano: If I Ran Valencia, I'd Sack The Lot Of Them

In a move guaranteed to resonate with at least a portion of the Valencia fanbase, the club's second-highest shareholder has stated that, were he in charge, Ronald Koeman, Jose Mari Bakero and Miguel Angel Ruiz would be out the door in short order...

In a sensational outburst on Valencia 97.7 radio, Valencia's second-biggest shareholder, Vicente Soriano, has told the world at large exactly what he thinks of the club's ruling junta, whom he intends to formally challenge in the new year.

With Santiago Canizares, David Albelda and Miguel Angel Angulo having been told to leave the club, the 10% owner believes that the coach - who allegedly made the decision - his assistant, and the sporting director all have to go.

"If I were president of Valencia, I'd totally reverse the situation," he blasted.

"Koeman would last ten seconds; Bakero, eleven. I wouldn't even count for Miguel Angel Ruiz.

"Ruiz is the man who wasted fifty million euros, while Koeman, to me, seems to be unconscious."

President Juan Soler may be fuming at these remarks, but it's thought that he is already no fan of Soriano, who wasn't quite finished yet in any case as he staked his claim to be the next president.

Soriano plans to officially submit his new plan in January - one that will be "away from the lies, the barbarities and the smokescreens that have characterised the three and a half years prior.

"I'd never raised the head of opposition but, given the circumstances, I understand that something must be done to change this situation.

His aim, should he become president is "to recovery the dignity of some players, the image of the team, and to stabilise economic decisions that will lead the club to disaster.

"Organisation? I know of no company that has more than one general manager. How do you want to deal with five if three months down the line you dismiss two?"

Where the two men did find common ground was on the construction of a new stadium, but even then Soriano felt that Soler had dealt extremely badly with the sale of the Mestalla land.

"I said at the time that it was incorrect to sell then, and by 2010 the land would be worth more," explained the would-be supremo.

"I thought then that it was a mistake, and now we see the results. Plots are being sold more cheaply than they might have been, and Solder has paid [for new land] in excess of the current market."

Really bold words there from Soriano. He attacks Koeman, Bakero, Ruiz and Soler and says they should all go. Question is will he get the majority stake in Valencia or pushed out of Valencia?

well for Valencia's sake I hope Soriano gets control of Valencia...as a neutral however it would be great to see Valencias stars for sale...

I assume it would be too late for Albelda and Canizares??

However I really want Soriano to take control of Valencia if he really cares about the club + he sounds intelligent

Also if he takes charge he will make sure that they are restored to their proper glory.

Valencia trio 'not sacked'

Club president wants long-serving players to fight for their place

Quote:
Long-serving Valencia players David Albelda, Santiago Canizares and Miguel Angel Angulo have only been dropped, not sacked.

That is the view of club president Juan Soler, who wants the experienced trio to stay at Valencia and fight for their place.

Coach Ronald Koeman told the trio they no longer featured in his plans after the club lost out in Europe and fell off the Primera Liga pace.

This prompted Albelda and Canizares to believe they are being forced out and ask the club to release them from their contracts so they can seek transfers.

But Soler has since denied the trio - who have won more than 100 international caps between them - are being forced out of Valencia, who are currently in seventh place in La Liga, 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid.

"It is a technical decision taken by Koeman. They haven't been separated from the squad, or sacked. They simply haven't been selected," Soler told a news conference on Friday.

He added: "This is the official version from the club. The coach said he did not count on them for now.

"No one has said they will not be recalled to the side again. I hope they will return to play for the club."

Soler compared the situation to that of Real Madrid last season, when Fabio Capello dropped some big names who then returned to the team.

He said: "These types of things have happened in other clubs. Real Madrid decided to get rid of Ronaldo, and dropped David Beckham, Raul and Guti last season and these same players ended up coming back to win them the league.

"It is a temporary situation. The people who hold the key to reversing the decision are the players. It is in the hands of the players and the coach."

well interesting turn around...I guess this is the board trying to be better liked after the Koeman revolution/ not seem like the bad guys.

Valencia keen on Zigic stay

Pompey set to miss out on loan deal

Quote:
Portsmouth appear set to miss out on a January move for Nikola Zigic following the striker's return to form at Valencia.

The Serbian forward was expected to leave the Mestalla in the transfer window and Pompey were reported to be keen on a loan move.

However, Valencia coach Ronald Koeman has abandoned plans for the departure of Zigic, who is also rumoured to be a target of Real Sociedad, following a series of impressive performances.

And Zigic insists he is happy to remain at Valencia while he is enjoying opportunities in Koeman's first-team.

"I want to play minutes and I am happy if finally the boss gives me chances," Zigic told Spanish media.

Koeman was said to want Zigic out but they've scored 4 goals in a month and a half and Zigic has scored 3 of them. K

Koeman now doesn't want him to leave because he's the only one scoring.
