It's quite disgraceful to treat 2 Valencia veterans like this. Albelda is the captain and has been at Valencia for about 13 years and Koeman comes along and throws him out.
Koeman has gone too bold too quickly. This is likely to unsettle the players more which will make things harder as the squad is 6 players shorter now, add to that their injury list. I have a feeling this could set the club back a few years.
|
that is ridiculous he cannot blame the players only he is the manager and if he cannot motivate them then he isn't doing his job very well.
how can you get rid of your captain..who loves the club??
I think Koeman should go not the players.

from the outside looking in, this looks fucking mental.
Albelda i believe has a lot to say for himself in the dressing room, and Koeman clearly wont stand for that. but he is a big player for Valencia. Benitez & Flores could get the best out of him so for Koeman to come along and simply axe him is ridiculous. Manuel Fernandes & Sunny have not proven themselves to be in the same class as Albelda yet, whilst Albiol, Helguera & Marchena are better off at CB.
Canizares is slightly different in that they have Hildebrand who arguably should be their #1 anyway, but again is there really any necessity in making such a great servant for the club such an outcast?? No way.
I heard an interesting point about Barcelona's so called "Dream team" under Cruyff and how they are faring in management....well Koeman is losing the plot, Bakero is his number two and has done nothing as a manager, whilst the less said about Hristo Stoichkov the better!!

Albelda's interview where he cries
Very sad.
What a joke.Valencia have really screwed things up. Angulo doesn't deserve to be kicked out, he isn't the most gifted player, but really works his socks off. Albelda doesn't deserve to be sidelined as well, yes he may be performing below his standards, but these past 2 seasons he has probably been one of the best DM's in europe.
Albelda,Angulo,Canizares,Vicente,Manuel Fernandes,Zigic that is a huge list of good players getting the axe. Villa also wants to leave and so why would Silva,Joaquin stay ? If they don't stop this sh1t now this club might never regain it's previous standing.
To think i thought Valencia had a chance of winning the champions league these past 2 seasons.
Carboni must be laughing his head off.

tbf though Valencia have been in decline for months now. They changed the coach and their terrible form never changed.
End of the day if the team isn't performing you must make change. One thing I appluad with Koeman is he isn't scared to make big decisions. We'll see if he's right.

they werent playing especially well under Flores this season, but they were 4 points off the top of La Liga, and looking solid enough in the CL....Koeman has taken them to 13 points behind the leaders in the League, and out of not just the CL but the UEFA Cup as well. they have actually only scored in one out of EIGHT games! that is ridiculous for a side featuring Canizares, Miguel, Albiol, Albelda, Silva, Joaquin, Villa, Vicente, Morientes.....
Koeman may be making big decisions, but most of them are wrong.

definately..
It is a sad to see an "honest" team going into ruins, it is so full of history, and with the potential to be so much more..
I think they will recover in time, it has a big fan base, which always helps. They will finish the season mid-table but it will take a few years before they are really challenging for the champions league.

His not right honestly. He is a fool for making such drastic changes.
There is no need to humiliate legendary players like Albelda and Canizares. Instead of keeping it under wraps he tells the whole of Spain and makes it a big issue.
This is the worst possible scenario that could've come up.

True but Valencia haven't been very convincing this season. A manager deserves time before we jump on his decisions. Next season will be massive for Koeman. As we know what Valencia fans are like.

Hmm I don't know. Would he be allowed to do this if he wasn't there for a good period of time?

I watched the press conference where the dude cried. I felt so bad for him. It's really a fucked up way to treat a 13-year old veteran, who is the captain of the team.
How it has been said, it's disgraceful.
This unsettlement could cause some players to leave; Villa, for example. There are rumors already about him leaving.

fair point LAF.
a few journalists i have seen have said what Koeman is doing is essentially the right thing, but the way he is going about it is utterly wrong. im not sure i agree that it is necessary to even drop Albelda, a good manager would be able to get him playing well, but to treat him with such contempt and so soon as well....it doesnt make any sense.
who knows, maybe Soler would like to see the strong personalities go, then he can remove Koeman and the new manager gets to start afresh minus the "disruptive" figures.

This reminds me of SAF abit. He's done it with several players when they have either got too big for their heels or bashed him (Stam, RVN, Beckham and Keane).
Of course never to this scale of exits though.

I understand that the coach should be able to do things like this but Koeman has been there for just over a month so doesn't know the players as well as a move like this would suggest.
Imagine if a new coach took over Juve and dropped them from 4th to 7th, knocked out of Europe and axed and humiliated a fan favourite and legend like Del Piero, forced another fan favourite to retire as well as transfer listing 4 good players.
I think everyone should be able to feel sceptical about this, Koeman at the moment will be guilty until proven innocent. If it pays off then I'll be one of the first to praise him.
