Gavilan Joins Getafe On Loan

Quote:

Valencia midfield Jaime Gavilan Martinez has opted for a second loan spell at Getafe, rejoining the club with whom he spent the 2005-06 campaign...

Jaime Gavilan (pictured) will arrive at Getafe next week in a loan deal that will see him at the Coliseum until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who specialises in a left-wing role, spent the 2005-06 campaign with the Azulones before trying his luck at his parent club, Valencia, the following season.

However, he managed just four starts and eight substitute appearances in the Liga in his homecoming campaign. This season, things have been little better: he's started two games so far and failed to finish either of them.

Coach Ronald Koeman seems unlikely to count on the player, particularly now that Vicente is fit, and as such, the door has been open for a loan move for some time.

Rumour has it that Getafe were not alone in showing an interest in the player, but that the Azulones benefited from Gavilan's fond memories of his time in suburban Madrid.

The old coach, Bernd Schuster, has now gone, and with Michael Laudrup is in his place, it remains to be seen how the former Tenerife man fares.

Getafe president Angel Torres has remarked that Gavilan will arrive at the Los Espartales club late in the festive season, meaning that he could make his "debut" at home to Valladolid on the weekend of January 6th.

Might be good for Jaime Gavilan to leave the circus and concentrate on playing a full 6 months without any injuries.

Getafe have some dynamite wings now with Gavilan on the left and Pablo on the right.
