Default Mourinho Offered Valencia Job - Report

Quote:
The Catalan daily reports that Los Ché president Juan Soler met with the Portuguese trainer's agent, Jorge Méndez, to open tentative talks between the two parties.

Quique Sánchez Flores' contract is up at the end of the current campaign and after an inconsistent start there is pressure on him to step down.

Following the Champions League defeat against Rosenborg in midweek it is believed that the quest for a new coach has been stepped up, although Flores could still survive if he turns the season around.

Mourinho may be tempted to take over at the Spanish outfit as they have a strong pedigree in the league and in Europe and a huge squad already in place.

One syumbling block could be the former Chelsea boss's wage demands as he was on a vast salary at Stamford Bridge, which Valencia could not match.

While other major clubs have made their intentions known, the Mestalla-based outfit are keen to cement a relationship with Méndez for when a serious proposal will be required.

Doubt they could get him with all the other big european clubs after him. But if they do I think they will be unstoppable really.

Valencia have so much potential, probably one of the best sides in europe, but they haven't been playing to their past for the past 2 seasons imo. That could be due to injuries(vicente/ayala/edu), but with the new boost of finances they have, they should've really spent better in the summer.

Said no to sneijder/raul Garcia who are now doing great for atletico/real madrid and didn't push for lucho/kallstrom.

I honestly think mourinho will take this club to the crazy heights cuper/benitez took them to during 1999-2003.

Though I will have to say one thing about quique. He may act like a fool, because of his favouring of certain players, but nearly this whole Valencia side are part of the Spanish national team/youth sides and that is one big feat.

Mourinho Offered Valencia Job - Report

José Mourinho is considering whether to step into the breach at Valencia after being made an offer to replace the beleaguered Ronald Koeman, according to a report.

The Portuguese boss was approached by Los Ché before they appointed their current coach, but he turned down the offer as he hoped for a bigger club to make their move.

Koeman joined Valencia in early November and has won just one league game and caused major upheaval at the club that has now seen the fans turn against him.

According to The Sun, Mourinho has now been approached and if he accepts the role then the Dutchman will be sacked this week in order to make way.

While the former Chelsea boss was rumoured to fancy a return to English football and was linked to both Liverpool and Newcastle United, he has yet to say anything publicly.

Valencia's offer to help rescue them this season may be tempting, but Mourinho is believed to be holding out for one of Europe's major clubs to offer him a post.

AC Milan are the favourites with Carlo Ancelotti expected to step down in the summer, so Valencia may only be able to keep the outspoken trainer until then.

In Spain, Valencia have publicly given Koeman their backing, but defeat in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday evening against Atlético de Madrid would see the pressure increase dramatically.

The Special one linked with Valencia again. He was their first choice when Quique was sacked but turned it down then. Lippi and Scolari did also and Koeman was 4th choice to be Valencia coach.

But honestly would Jose Mourinho take the job at Valencia when he turned it down in October when the club wasn't in such bad condition? The only reason I can think that he'd do it is if he's desperate to get back into management but it's rumoured the Milan job is likely to be his at the end of the season, so probably not.
