David Navarro To Head To Mallorca On Loan
David Navarro To Head To Mallorca On Loan
Quote:
One of three Valencia outcasts, David Navarro, has seemingly lined up his footballing opportunities for next season. After reports linking him to Racing Santander were deemed false, the centre-back has joined RCD Mallorca on loan.
David Navarro was named earlier this month as one of the three unwanted players at the Mestalla, alongside fellow defenders Asier del Horno and Curro Torres.
He's now become the first of the three to find a new club, if only temporarily. The centre-back has agreed to join Real Mallorca on loan after an earlier move to Racing Santander fell through.
Navarro, who took part in 52 league matches for Valencia, won't be able to play until early September as his UEFA suspension counts down. The 27 year old was given a seven month ban - later reduced to six - after sprinting onto the pitch to partake of a brawl during Valencia's Champions League tie with Inter Milan.
An unseemly game of cat and mouse ensued after he feebly kicked out at Inter's Nicolas Burdiso. Navarro, a substitute, showed significant pace as he sprinted to the tunnel, but perhaps reflected that he needed to work on his martial art abilities as he hid in the locker room, a band of nerazzurri players baying for his blood outside.
Despite escaping the ire of the Inter players, he could not evade UEFA's judicial panel, who came down hard on the Land of Valencia native.
However, Navarro has since repented for his actions, pledging to apologise in person to Burdiso. And soon he'll be able to make amends on the pitch: his suspension is almost up, and he should return to action in early September. Just not for Valencia
