Alexis Flattered By Sergio Ramos Comparison
Quote:
Alexis has said that he understands the comparisons between him and Sergio Ramos after appearing in his first game since joining Valencia from Getafe this summer.
The 21-year-old defender agreed that his drive and determination is the same as the Real Madrid star, but he wants to prove that he is his own player.
There is no animosity as he is a good friend of Ramos and would be pleased to reach the heights that his former international team-mate has.
"Since I was young I have known Sergio Ramos, we played together in the Spain Under-15's," Alexis said.
"Last year, when I was at Getafe they compared him to me, but I am Alexis and he is Sergio is already established.
"We are different players, but one similarity we have is that we both give everything on the pitch and that is why we are comparable."
Alexis made his debut for Valencia in a goalless draw with Lokomotiv Sofia during their pre-season stay in Holland and he was pleased with the display.
"I worked well with Carlos Marchena and now I cannot wait for another chance to see whether I can build on that game," he continued.
Coach Quique Sánchez Flores has mooted the idea of moving Alexis from the centre to the right of defence and he has mixed thoughts on the switch.
"As long as I am in the starting team it makes no difference to me. I have played there before and done well," Alexis added.
"I have always said, however, that my best position is in the middle because that is where I feel most comfortable."

Quique Flores also said that Alexis could be Spain's starting CB for the next 10 years.
The pairing of Albiol - Alexis could definately be Valencia's pairing for the next 10 years.

I'm waiting to see what he will be like a few years down the line. Valencia are a great club for buying players and developing them further.

Alexis Out For Four Months Tests Confirm
Quote:
Valencia defender Alexis has been ruled out for four months after undergoing a series of tests on Sunday that showed the full extent of the damage to his knee.
The 22-year-old was stretchered off just four minutes into Los Ché's win at Real Mallorca on Saturday and concerns were high that he would be out of action for a long period.
That diagnosis has been confirmed as doctors stated that he had "a grade two sprain of his external lateral ligament, a grade one sprain on the international ligament, a partial injury to the posterior crossed ligament and further damage to the inside of his knee".
Alexis suffered the injury when he jumped to clear a ball in his own area and appeared to lose his footing as he landed on the soft turf in Son Moix.
It is a hammer blow for the player that joined Valencia in the summer after signing a pre-contract agreement while still at Getafe last term.
Having completed just four games under Quique Sánchez Flores, the former Spain Under-19 centre-back was hoping to prove himself to new boss Rnald Koeman.
Now he has been told to rest at home before beginning the recovery programme that will see him returning to action in February, according to initial predictions.

Big blow for Valencia. He should have really been playing more this season but their defence was already shakey and now they have to choose either Helguera or Marchena to partner Albiol in the middle now.
