Tavano Sold to Livorno
Empoli hitman Francesco Tavano has officially completed his move to Spanish giants Valencia, announced the club.
Tavano hit the headlines this season with 19 Serie A goals, making a large contribution to their safety from relegation.
He had been linked with Juventus, Fiorentina, Milan and Inter – his favoured option, being a self-avowed life-long Nerazzurri supporter.
However, the Italian sides chose different avenues and so he has been sold to La Liga contenders Valencia.
The 27-year-old has been compared to Enrico Chiesa for his shooting style and played for Pisa and Rondinella before joining Empoli in 2001-02.
Valencia director of sport Amedeo Carboni, a former Roma star, personally guided the move to a successful conclusion. No financial details about the deal have been confirmed.
The Spanish side hasn't had too much luck with Italian players recently. Stefano Fiore, Bernardo Corradi and Marco Di Vaio all failed to settle in and sought loan moves back to the peninsula.

Morientes, Asier Del Horno and Tavano in for Valencia this season.

Man, this is like out of the blue. Quite surprising to say the least.
I hope he does well.

Good, that means they hopefully lose interest in Martins.

Did the Simao deal break down then?
Apparantly they made an offer for joaquin, imagine if Vicente is back to his best and fit, the wingers with Mori up front too.

Valencia offered simão 2m €, he wanted 2.5m €.
Joaquin is much better than Simão.

Tavano seals Livorno switch
Quote:
Francesco Tavano is now officially a Livorno player along with Fausto Rossini, Massimo Loviso and Emanuele Filippini.
Amaranto President Aldo Spinelli had announced the loan deal had been struck earlier this week, but the official confirmation has only arrived today.
Tavano is still owned by Valencia, but spent the last six months at Roma, where he scored just two goals in 14 Serie A appearances.
He had shot to fame after netting 19 goals in both 2004-05 and 2005-06 for Empoli, but failed to settle in his first experience in Spain, playing just three Liga games.

One of the most stupid and pointless signings of last season. I feel sorry for Tavano being caught up and being victim of the war between Carboni and Quique. Carboni bought him when Quique didn't want him and only played him 3 times. 6m Euros is a decent price for Valencia considering he didn't play much last season.
