Joaquín believes that it was only a matter of time and hard work before he began to show his true colours at Valencia as a recent run of good form as won him many plaudits.
The Andalucian winger has struggled to reproduce the form that made him a favourite at Real Betis since making the move to Mestalla, but in recent weeks he has impressed.
After scoring both goals in the victory over Recreativo last weekend, the 25-year-old credited coach Quique Sánchez Flores with his improvement.
"In time I have found my place," Joaquín explained.
"Things have now changed quite a lot but it was just a matter of time, clmaness and looking for the right moment.
"I am going through an excellent moment and I just hope it continues because the team is also winning.
"Now I run a lot more. The coach knew what was needed and I have to work very hard, but I have never lost confidence in myself.
"I have learned to be patient and that is why I never looked back."
Valencia travel to Rizaor this weekend as they bid to keep alive their hopes of catching FC Barcelona at the top of the table and Joaquín knows that a victory is vital.
With eight defeats and only four wins from their 16 away games this term los Ché's challenge has been dented by their performances on the road.
"There are six games left an anything is possible," Joaquín continued. "The team is ambitious and that is why we still have to continue battling for the title.
"Away from home we have dropped back in the fight for the championship and that is why we cannot afford to lose this one.
"The most important thing is to keep a clean sheet and from there we can take our chances at the other end."
With his form for Valencia now turning heads at club level, Joaquín is hopeful that Spain coach Luis Aragonés will take notice and give him a recall to the national team.
"I hope that Luis Aragonés will call me up again I have to continue playing like this," he added.
