Default Källström Yet To Decide His Future

Källström Yet To Decide His Future

Kim Källström has denied reports that he has made a decision over his future, but admitted that moving to Spain was an attractive proposition.

The Swedish midfielder has been targetted by Valencia and the interest has seen him stall on signing a new deal with Olympique Lyonnais.

With an €11m offer already having been refused by the French outfit, los Ché are set to up their bid, but rumours suggest that Källström has already decided what his next move will be.

"I have not signed anything with anyone yet," the 24-year-old told Aftonbladet.

"I have not renewed my contract with Lyon and have not agreed anything with Valencia.

"There is nothing more I can say, but playing in the Spanish league does attract me."

Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, has been infuriated by Valencia's handling of the situation and has hit out at los Ché's opening offer.

"I do not know whether we can call it a proposal," he said.

"We have received indirect offers from agents indicating that Valencia would pay us a transfer fee over four or five years.

"Do I look like an idiot?"

I think he's answered that one himself.

Personally I don't think Valencia need Kallstrom and I'm not sure he's worth £8m +.

Spurs Make £8M Bid For Valencia Target Kallstrom

Quote:
Tottenham have decided to challenge Valencia for Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom.

Kallstrom has been linked repeatedly with Valencia over the last week, but with Los Che struggling to agree a price, the door was left open for a rival bid.

Spurs boss Martin Jol, who has been interested in the Swedish international midfielder in the past, has weighed in with a 12 million euro offer, meeting Lyon's valuation of the player.

That means a move could go through if Kallstrom gives his nod. The midfielder had admitted yesterday that he had yet to make a final decision on his future.

Kallstrom has been one of the emerging stars of Lyon's successful team, and has been impressive despite not being a regular.

He provided over 10 assists and scored 7 goals in 28 games, quite a few of which he started on the bench. Kallstrom also has 45 caps for Sweden, having scored 6 goals.

A player similar in style to Milan youngster Yoann Gourcuff, he has attracted interest from top clubs all over Europe. However, Martin Jol has put Spurs in pole position to land him.

Valencia Give Up On Källström

Quote:
Valencia have given up their pursuit of Kim Källström after their latest offer of €14m was rejected out of hand by Olympique Lyonnais.

zoom - galleria The Swede is the third transfer target that los Ché have missed out on this summer after the club failed in bids to land Wesley Sneijder and Lucho González.

A representative of the Mestalla outfit held talks with Lyon in France on Wednesday and put forward the offer of €14m, which would have been paid in three instalments.

It was an offer that Valencia believed would finally see the Ligue 1 side buckle, but instead it was met with a definitive no.

Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, was determined not to allow another star player to leave this summer after seeing Éric Abidal, Florent Malouda, Alou Diarra and Tiago all depart.

Despite earning €60m from the sale of the quartet, Aulas knows that he cannot rebuild his team completely in one month and view Källström as a key member of the squad.

Valencia must now start from scratch in their search for a new central midfielder and the first name to be thrown into the ring is Getafe's Javier Casquero.

More talks are set to be held by los Che's directors and coaching staff over the next few days and a list of targets will be drawn up.

Finances are not a problem for the Spanish league, but there strict policy on purchases has led them to pull out of deals for all three summer targets in order not to break the bank.

That extra CM did always seem like a luxury for Valencia. I don't think they necessarily need one, it will all come down to the development of Sunny. If he's as magic as they say they we could see him alongside Albelda all season for Valencia with Edu and Baraja as backup.

Racing Insist On Valencia's Mata

Quote:
Racing Santander are preparing to demand that Valencia allow them to sign Juan Mata on loan as part of the deal that saw Mario Regueiro move to Mestalla.

The Cantabrian outfit want activate the agreement that obliges Valencia to loan them a number of players valued at over €1m, but have now made their move.

Regueiro left Racing in 2005 and Racing have bided their time before making a request and are already facing resistance with their latest bid.

Mata joined Valencia this summer from Real Madrid Castilla and Quique Sánchez Flores has used the youngster in pre-season with an eye on giving him a regular run out next term.

If the request is turned down then Racing are preared to wait until the winter transfer window to try again, according to Marca.

Flores may opt to play hardball, but he could then face a battle that could see the football authorities called in.

Mata jumped at the chance to join Valencia after releasing a clause in his Madrid contract that allowed him to leave the club if he was not automatically promoted to the first team at Bernabéu.

The 19-year-old was one of the stars of Spain's success in the European Under-19 Championships last summer and continued grow during a campaign in la Segunda A.

Valencia have been great to sign good and right players for their club. IMO today a stronger hold than Real Madrid and Sevilla, and maybe Barcelonas main menace next season.

They've also been good in showing those young players faith as we saw in Raul Albiol and David Silva last season and now Sunny, Mata and Alexis this season.

The Reguerio transfer Racing have the clause from was so crooked anyway. They were both 2 of the 18 Primera clubs that had agreed that if you sign another Spanish teams player on a free transfer then you have to give them £1.1m in compensation. Valencia wanted Reguerio but didn't want to pay the money so struck a deal with Racing where they got him for nothing in exchange for this loaning clause to Racing.

Firstly Racing allowed Reguerio to be signed by a South American team on a free transfer but to have signed a contract that allowed him to leave for free. Valencia then signed him from them in a week and got their player for free, Racing got the loan clause and they both beat a loophole, everybody happy.

Quote:
Valencia have made an offer for Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

The Dutchman, who was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier this summer, is contracted to Hamburg until 2010.

However, Valencia are keen to bring van der Vaart to the Mestalla and have bid 14 million euros (£9.5million) for the player.

Van der Vaart is eager for the move to go ahead and admits it would be disappointing if he had to stay in Germany.

"I absolutely want to leave, Valencia is my dream," the midfielder said in the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper.

"If I had to stay in Hamburg it would be painful."

Hamburg have confirmed there was an offer but insist van der Vaart will not be allowed to leave.

"In this particular case money is of no importance," said sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

They've bidded - £9.5m, and Valencia seem absolutely determined to get him.

Now they could be thinking either of 2 things wth this target: they could see him as an excellent exciting, attacking footballer who will improve their play on the ground and create in the Dutch style, or they could see him as a guy who can hit them from 30 yards - the perfect guy for Zigic to knock it down to. It's fairly obvious which is more likely.

Linked with Adriano

Quote:
Reports in Italy claim that Valencia have offered 15million euros for Internazionale striker Adriano, but the approach has been turned down by the Serie A champions.

The Spanish side's offer is believed to fall well short of Adriano's valuation, with suggestions that Internazionale have slapped a 25million euro fee on the Brazilian as they look to deter potential suitors.

The offer is likely to spark an increased amount of bidding activity around Adriano, but his club have previously stated their intention to keep him, despite his personal and injury problems last season.

Adriano is contracted to Inter until 2010, and it remains to be seen as to whether Inter will cash in.

Valencia would face a difficult job in persuading Adriano to move away from the San Siro, after he previously stated he would only be interested in joining a fellow Serie A team.

Not in the club's plans

Meanwhile, Valencia playmaker Stefano Fiore has confirmed that he is looking to leave, saying he has been informed that he is not in the club's plans.

Fiore has seemingly fallen foul to coach Quique Sanchez Flores' new tactical system, and he told Gazzetta dello Sport that he has been reduced to training alone.

"I've spoken with the sporting director, a really good person and he, practically embarrassed, explained to me that for tactical matters I'm not in the club's plans," he revealed.

"I've started training on my own. The coach? I've met him once. He told me he would have spoken with me, but I've never seen him.

"I have not got a good fitness condition but once I've found it back, I'd like to be treated like the other players.

"I'm a Valencia player too and I think I should have the same rights as my team-mates. I don't see other ways than to leave."

They've got Morientes, Villa and Zigic - is it nessecary to go for someone like Adriano? Surely he'd expect first team, and that can't be garuanteed for him, surely?
