Albelda Seeking Termination
Quote:
The Los Che captain is angry over a broken promise of a pay-rise from sports chief Amedeo Carboni and won't consider any talks over a new contract. The midfielder's current deal runs to 2010.
Barcelona sports chief Txiki Begiristain rates Albelda very highly and has been chasing the Spain international for over 18 months. Albelda has already informed agents to find him a new club in the summer and recently admitted that "Barca is an option".

tribalfootball.com - Valencia's Albelda closer to Barcelona move
he's a very good player and Barcelona definitely need a defensive midfielder better than Edmilson or Motta. He's getting on a bit though (29?) although maybe Motta could learn from him.

That's weird , Barce fans hate Abelda, because he's a player that's not in the Barce mold.
He be just what Barce need, a hard working fouling midfielder, be a brillant signing tbh, Valecnia have impred x3 since he came back from injury.

Albelda would be the only signing I would make in the summer. DM is a position we've struggle at this season and Albelda is a great DM who'll clear up and get in those important hacks of his when needed.

Albelda Proud Of Barça Interest
David Albelda has hinted that he would consider moving to FC Barcelona if the Catalan club made an offer and said that he is flattered by their interest.
The Blaugrana have made it no secret that they would like to prise the Valencia captain away from Mestalla in the summer and are reportedly preparing a bid.
Despite having three years left on his current contract, los Ché are keen to tie Albelda down for another season with improved conditions and a higher buy-out clause.
HIs dispute over the salary on offer has led to a stand-off with the director of sport, Amedeo Carboni, and that could lead to Barça being able to land their man at the end of the current campaign.
"If Barcelona called me I would be very proud," Albelda said. "If any big club shows an interest then it is a reason to be proud.
"Also, Barça are the current league champions and the European Cup holders. They are a massive club, with a great squad and will always be one of the major teams in world football.
"For anything to happen though, the club must make it clear that they too interested. Everything has to be weighed up. The truth is that the deal I have with the club is watertight.
The 29-year-old came through the youth ranks at Valencia and looked set to remain at the club for his entire career before negotiations began over a new deal recently.
Now Albelda has doubts as to whether los Ché will be the only club he represents.
"For a footballer, it cannot always only be about one club," he said. "When you are playing well it is obvious that other teams will notice you.
"A player can say that he will stay in one club for his entire career because so much can happen.
"I am from this area and it is the club I have played for since I was 15.
"Obviously there have been changes at the top, with presidents and directors moving on and each time I think that changes the face of the club."

125k weekly wage and a 20m transfer not worth it. Despite him being top 5 dm in the world last season.

Ayala Tells Albelda To Stay Focussed
Roberto Ayala has warned David Albelda that he must put all thoughts of his contract renewal to one side and concentrate only on playing until the end of the season.
The Argentinian defender claims he went through the same thing over negotiations for a new deal with los Ché and ended up agreeing to join Villarreal on a free for next term.
Talks between Valencia's sporting director, Amedeo Carboni, and Albelda have stalled over wages and has led to speculation that the player could move to FC Barcelona.
Albelda still has two years left on his current deal, but the club agreed to add a season more to the agreement and offered a rise in wages.
But the amount has proved to be a moot point and any discussions have come to a halt, leaving Albelda wondering where his future lies.
"He has to not be sheltered from all this and produce the form that he has been doing so far," Ayala stated.
"I think that David must channel his energies only on playing and not on these external problems.
"It is not easy and I full understand his situation as I have been through it and when you do not cut yourself off you are not 100 per cent focussed.
"David though is someone who has a strong menality and I think that should be able to do this.
"He is a homegrown player and that means a lot to him and the club. He is from the area, he is a symbolic player and has shown that he clearly wants to stay."

Ayala is right there. Hopefully for Valencia's CL campaign they can both keep concentrated on their current job.
I've done some digging on Albelda's contract and it says in various places that he gets £1m a season (only £20k a week).
With that in mind if Albelda wants to leave then Valencia will probably sell him for around the £8m mark in my opinion and his Barca wage would probably be 40-45k a week, which for me is definately worth going for.

Albelda Signs Four Year Valencia Deal
Quote:
Valencia skipper David Albelda has committed his future to the Mestalla club.
The defensive midfielder was heading into the final year of his contract, and had been linked with Barcelona last month.
However, the Catalans have since gone cold on him, and the signing of Yaya Toure officially ends their interest in the 29-year-old.
Albelda has been at odds with the fans of late, after they chose to boo a number of players during the game against Villarreal, but has decided to stay on.
He pens a four year contract that will keep him at the club until 2011, when he expects to retire.
"It's been a difficult and strange season, but both parties wanted the same thing," he said, comfirming the news.
"With this new contract, I can guarantee I will retire at the club, because I don't know what state I will be in at the age of 34.
"I want to thank the club and everyone else for trusting me and making me feel comfortable here."

Goal.com - Valencia - Albelda Signs Four Year Valencia Deal
Good news for Valencia. The club captain signs a 4 year deal to see out his career with them. To my knowledge after Albelda came through the youth ranks he spent one season on loan at Villarreal but then spent every other season in Valencia.

Albelda - Linked to Juve
Albelda: We're Emotionally Shattered
Quote:
Following yet another heavy home defeat, Valencia's David Albelda has admitted the side's confidence has hit rock-bottom.
Valencia may have changed managers, but if anything it's only made the situation worse.
Los Che's devastating 3-0 defeat at home to Barcelona this weekend has really got to the players, with midfielder David Albelda concerned that the squad are developing a losing mindset.
"It's a mental problem, players do not want the ball and there are no signs of improvement," he said following Saturday's display.
"You think everything is going wrong. Playing at home and believing that nothing can be done to stop another defeat is very difficult to cope with."
Stay Positive, Fight Hard
The Spanish international believes that the only way for the team to come out of this trough in form is to collect their thoughts and remain positive that they have the ability.
"It's difficult to give the fans a message of encouragement. They behaved well towards us. This is a time to show pride and character."

Speaking of Albelda it's possible that him and Canizares will be chucked out of the club.
Koeman se carga a Albelda y Cañizares - Marca.com
Koeman and Soler have identified the old boys network influence in the dressing room as they key influence to them doing so poorly and so these 2 might be sold or continually benched in January.
Personally although they may be a contributing factor to their bad form, I would look a little closer to home if I was those 2 as it seems like they're scapegoating those 2 when Soler is largely to blame and now Koeman has made things worse.

Juventus Line Up Possible Albelda Swoop
Quote:
Valencia star David Albelda is the latest big-name player to be linked to a move to Juventus.
The Bianconeri are well-known to be in the market for a midfielder, and La Stampa claims that the club could take advantage of Albelda’s delicate situation at his club.
The 30-year-old, along with veteran goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, has been sensationally axed from the Valencia starting line-up for the remaining two games of the year by Coach Ronald Koeman, and the pair’s long-term future at the club is under question.
"With respect to everyone and to Cañizares and Albelda, I have explained everything to them,” Koeman said.
"We have decided that they will not be in the squad. They will not play in the next two games and then we shall see about the future.
"These are strong decisions that we have to take for the good of Valencia and that is most important."
Albelda’s contract with Valencia runs until 2011, but Juventus could offer him an immediate route out of the club during the January transfer window.
Bianconeri boss Claudio Ranieri is a big admirer of the player, having worked with him during his two spells as boss at the Mestalla.
Albelda also has international pedigree, having played for the Spanish national team on 46 occasions.
It is being suggested that Ronald Koeman would be happy to give his nod if an offer in the region of 10 million euros is made. Juve might be willing to offer eight.

Albelda To Seek Contract Termination In Court
Quote:
David Albelda's lawyer claims that Valencia have ignored his client's plea for an amicable end to the player's contract, meaning that legal recourse is now the only possible avenue...
As one of the three players told by coach Ronald Koeman that he would not be selected for Valencia again, David Albelda is set to exit the Mestalla side.
However, the player's lawyer, Francisco Guillem, feels that amicable separation is now possible after the club allegedly snubbed his efforts to discuss such a move.
He told Marca, "The intent of the player was to reach a friendly agreement, but just as nobody actually informed him that he'd been discarded by the coach and president, the club ignored our request last week and, as of today, we have no response to our willingness to negotiate."
Albelda's contract has a 60 million euro release clause, and unless an agreement is reached, he will be stuck at the Mestalla in a non-playing capacity for the forseeable future.
"We should keep in mind that [David] is an employee with the same rights as any other employee," continued Giuillem.
"David knows that this measure is not being taken against Valencia the club, but rather those within it that make the decisions.
"If the player was very hurt and upset by the decision to isolate him from the team, then the lack of response to the que | | | | |
