Villa: I Want To Stay At Valencia
Valencia have opened negotiations for Real Zaragoza striker David Villa.
The 23-year-old marksman has had a couple of very impressive seasons at La Romareda since making the move from Sporting Gijon.
He managed 18 goals last term and forced himself into the plans of Spain boss Luis Aragones in the process, having been called up for this weekend's World Cup qualifier with Lithuania.
Valencia, who swooped for Patrick Kluivert on Friday, want to make Villa their second signing of the close season, but are being frustrated by Zaragoza's demands.
The Aragon-based outfit have financial problems and admit they will have to part company with one or two of their star names this summer, but they are being insistent over Villa's price.
The striker's release clause stands at €12 million and his owners are currently demanding every last Euro of that figure.
Valencia director of sport Javier Subirats is trying to knock his Zaragoza counterparts down, although it has emerged they have also enquired about the possibility of taking Marco Di Vaio as part of the deal.
Although there is currently an impasse, a compromise is expected to be thrashed out in the coming days, and Villa could become a Valencia player once he has returned from international duty.
"Zaragoza and Valencia have begun negotiations and when they reach agreement we will have to see what the player says," Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo stated.
"I will speak to him when he comes back from the Spain game."

Che capture duo!!
Valencia have completed their double swoop for David Villa and Mario Regueiro.
Villa has joined the Che in an £8 million deal from Real Zaragoza, while Regueiro has arrived on a free transfer from Racing Santander.
The dethroned Spanish champions had been homing in on the dual capture for several weeks and finally announced the deal on Wednesday evening.
The Che have forked out the hefty sum for Villa after the striker proved himself to be a regular goalscorer in La Liga.
He has signed a five-year contract at the Mestalla while Uruguay international Regueiro has inked a four-year deal.
Regueiro had been interesting Espanyol, and has also been linked with Manchester United, but has opted to move to Valencia.
The club's president Juan Soler is hoping the twin signing will be a signal of intent for the coming season.
Soler told the club's official website: "Valencia are working to become a great team and to fight for La Liga."
Valencia are now set to step up their efforts to sign a right back, with Bayern Munich ace Willy Sagnol and Holland international Jan Kromkamp the prime targets.

Yes it's not the best goal ever as some people say but nevertheless it's a great goal! also Villa said after the game that he and the goal keeper trainer of Valencia had studied Molina (the goalkeeper of Deportivo) and had actually discussed the possibility of such a goal
Edit:
You should really see the clip of the goal with the spanish live commentators, funny as hell cuz they go insane

One of the best decisions he ever made was to move away from Zaragoza...because he is starting to blossom, he might make it to the Spain squad if he keeps it up...the Valencia saviour...

"100m pounds for Villa"
Valencia have warned Chelsea that negotiations for star striker David Villa would start at £100million. British newspapers have suggested that Spain striker Villa was top of Jose Mourinho's shopping list for the January transfer window.
But Valencia president Juan Soler insisted on Tuesday that his club were committed to keeping the 24-year-old.
"Officially we have not received any interest or an offer from Chelsea for Villa," Soler told PA Sport.
"I met (Valencia sporting director Amedeo) Carboni this morning and he didn't mention anything regarding any possible interest from Chelsea for our striker.
"We have no intention of selling him. But should any club be interested, they could sit down and negotiate his buy-out clause, which is currently worth 150million euros (£100million)."
Villa, who scored 25 La Liga goals last season and has five in 12 league starts this year, is under contract at the Mestalla until summer 2013.
