Arrow Valencia want Lippi and Buffon

Valencia want Lippi and Buffon
Wednesday 15 November, 2006
Valencia are hoping to lure Marcello Lippi and Gianluigi Buffon to Spain at the end of the season, reports suggest.

Coach Quique Flores’ team are currently sixth in La Liga, five points behind leaders Barcelona, and are already making plans for next season.

Now director general Amedeo Carboni has been quoted as saying: “Our two primary objectives should be Lippi and Buffon.”

The World Cup winning boss has not yet found a new job and had dismissed the latest reports linking him with a move to Milan, where he could replace Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season.

Buffon, who may take over from veteran goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, chose to remain with Juventus despite their relegation to Serie B in the aftermath of the Calciopoli scandal.

However, agent Silvano Martina has admitted that he may consider a summer switch as the Golden Ball nominee is interested in an experience abroad.

Carboni also warned Inter and Juventus that star striker David Villa, a reported target, is not for sale.

“We have not received any official offer and even if this were to happen we would never consider selling Villa,” said the former Roma man.

Villa’s agent José Luis Tamargo also confirmed that his client is happy to be at Valencia and is not interested in leaving Spain.

“David is fine here and does not want to move. These rumours have been released in view of the upcoming January transfer window, but are completely without foundation,” commented the agent.

I don't think Buffon will leave Juve and sign for Valencia.

He won't. If he goes to Spain it'll be to Barca (as Madrid have Casillas).

Don't think they'll sign for Valencia. They've a big debt and shall use much money on stadiumplans in the coming future and delete debt.

But time will show.

Default Valencia After Chivu To Replace Ayala

Los Che are said to be concentrating their efforts on Roma defender Christian Chivu, as they look to replace the departing Roberto Ayala ahead of next season.

The Romanian international has been in fine form for Roma over the last eighteen months, and is being targeted by Valencia sporting director Amedeo Carboni after Ayala's confirmed departure.

Carboni's weakness for the Calcio is well known, and while some of his Serie A imports might not have cut it with coach Quique Sanchez Flores, it appears as if the duo are in agreement this time.

Valencia have already played Roma thrice this season, first in a pre-season friendly in August, and twice in the Champions League, and Flores has been impressed with what he has seen, particularly a good sense of positioning. A summer move is now being sized up.

Chivu has been linked with other Spanish clubs in the recent past, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid rumoured to be interested in his services at one point or another.

Roma have so far managed to successfully fend off any swoops for a player they consider to be one of their prized assets, particularly as the player himself has been happy at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, the Romanian is out of contract next summer, and unless there is a new agreement, the Giallorosi will be forced to consider bids to avoid the risk of losing him for free.

It is understood that Barcelona and Real Madrid could also come back in should he become available.

I heard that Rijkaard was tempted by Chivu at the start of last season but was persuaded to go for him this summer or next January on a free. We might see a battle between the big 3 in Spain for Chivu.

Chivu is about to sign a new contract with Roma, he's going nowhere.

He may sign a new contract but I heard "he's signing a new contract, he's going nowhere" a while ago and nothing's been signed yet.

Whether he plays in Spain or Italy he's still good to watch.

Default Garcia in Valencia link

Quote:
Valencia have opened talks with Osasuna about Raul Garcia, according to reports in Spain.

The midfielder was linked with Chelsea after breaking into the Osasuna side last season and he has continued to catch the eye this term.

Valencia were turned off by a valuation of €15million (£10.3million) last summer but Osasuna are now believed to be ready to negotiate.

Garcia is contracted to the Reyno de Navarra until June 2009 but speculation suggests Osasuna are keen to cash in this summer.

Valencia may face competition for Garcia's signature from Atletico Madrid.

Flores doesnt seem to rate him for some reason, prefers gabi instead. But his gone to zaragoza though so he might have to go for garcia.
