Joaquin price tag increased
Real Betis president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera has slapped a €25 million price tag on Spanish international winger Joaquin.
Lopera reacted after the 22-year-old was reportedly attracting the interest of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Celtic.
However, the president was quick to point out to new Betis coach Lorenzo Serra Ferrer that there was no guarantee Joaquin would stay on next season.
Real Madrid have announced that they will wait until the 2005-06 season to sign the youngster whereas Chelsea's interest has cooled after the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager.
Joaquin is currently with the Spain squad at Euro 2004 but was not used by coach Inaki Saez during the 1-0 win against Russia on Saturday.
- I think he will replace Figo In 2006.

more chance of us getting him than Manure. For a start, your summer spending is over unless Fergie discovers the next Djemba-Djemba or Sally Forlan, secondly we've got close to £40m to spend, thirdly we didn't prick around with him last season causing him to say he didn't want to play for us, and fourthly we've got Benitez who Jaoquin has said he'd love to play for because of Benitez's style of play.

first of all Djemba hasnt had a season too settle in and hasnt had a chance to prove his worth.
Just because you got benetiz you think you will sign him when we have one of the greatest managers ever along with querioz who was managing in spain last season so he knows joaquin too and 40m what you one of the dippers directors, you talk shit remember so 40m means you only have 10m.
When did joaquin say no to man utd? He said he would be intrested in a move, its only betis who didnt want to sell him we made a bid and betis rejected it. Hes not worth a penny over 20m in this transfer market, especially when we got ronaldo who is worth watching every week.

Joaquin: Heart before wallet
Quote:
Spanish star Joaquin insists he will follow his heart rather than his wallet this summer.
The Real Betis winger is widely expected to depart Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera at the end of the season with Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid battling it out for his signature.
Joaquin is contracted to Betis until 2010, but that merely guarantees the Seville side a maximum return on their prized asset.
Chelsea have a long standing interest in Joaquin and will fight hard for his signature, while Barca entered the bidding only recently.
However, Real seemingly hold all the Aces as Joaquin has never hidden his desire to play at El Santiago Bernabeu.
Joaquin again confirmed he is highly likely to move this year.
"It would be no problem for me to sign if the conditions were right," he said.
"If an offer comes in and the president agrees and it is clear that I can go, it will depend on the president if I leave."
Joaquin hinted that he is ready to shun huge offers in order to secure a move to where he feels most comfortable.
"I am not going to look for the best move financially, I have to be happy, to enjoy myself," he added.
"I have to see that I can have success."
Joaquin has been linked as a successor to Luis Figo - who is one of his heroes.
"I said to Figo that he should step back soon and let me take his place," Joaquin joked with As.
However, the young Spaniard is not happy with the way Figo is being treated at the moment.
"I have a soft spot for Luis Figo," he said.
"I believe that he is the best and, right now, I am very angry that he is not in the starting line-up."

Betis: Four bids for Joaquin!!
Real Betis have received four bids for star winger Joaquin, one of them from Barcelona.
Betis president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera is keen to retain the Spain international but Real Madrid are favourites to land a player who has also attracted attention from Chelsea and Manchester United.
"We have very important offers for the sale of Joaquin," the Seville-based club's supremo told Radio Marca.
"One of them will be Barcelona.
"All the great clubs are always open for negotiations when you speak about a star and Joaquin is a very good player."
Chelsea tabled two massive bids in December for the wide man but were unable to thrash out a deal during the transfer window in January.
"I want an important effort to keep the player," added Lopera. "I am not interested in the exit of Joaquin because my club needs the aid of all the players."
Lopera believes Betis' qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League will be the decisive factor in keeping hold of the 23-year-old.
In a separate interview with local newspaper Diario de Sevilla, he hinted that the other three clubs chasing his star turn are indeed Real, Chelsea and United.
"Chelsea, Madrid, Manchester and other teams want Joaquin," he stated. "But now we can close the door."

Madrid, Chelsea, Barca, ManUtd and Liverpool will try to sign him I guess. I hope he will end up in Madrid because he is a typical wing. He isn't a player who drawing into the middle, but he challenges from the sides and kicking hard balls in.
Lets hope he choice his dream, and not the money.

Joaquin Says he Couldnt move to England
The Spanish international winger was one of Jose Mourinho's top targets on arriving at Stamford Bridge, yet the Blues boss has failed to make progress with Real Betis on striking a deal.
Joaquin is rated as one of the finest players in Europe, and he has revealed how Mourinho did indeed travel to Spain to meet with his club to discuss a transfer.
"Mourinho did not come to Seville to speak with me but the president,” said Joaquin. "They spoke of very important figures. But a concrete situation where I had to make a decision did not arrive. I stayed here and since then there have not been more contacts."
Even had the two clubs did agree a fee for the player, the 23-year-old has revealed how he would be reluctant to join the Premiership champions.
"The truth is that it would have taken me a lot of work because England is another world and the Andalusian people are like we are,” added Joaquin. "I am a professional, though, and, if some day I had to leave, I believe that everyone can become accustomed to everything, despite the fact it takes a lot of work."

I can't see it!
Both Real Madrid and Chelsea, who wants this player and have enough money to buy him, have failed. Looks like it is hard to sign this player. His biggest dream is to play for Real Madrid, but years with negotations and talk in the media, and nothing happens. Looks like he will continue for Betis another season.
