I honestly think he would have done better in England or Spain than Italy. Strictly opinion.

Your entitled to it.

I wasn't even thinking on a country level, I was thinking about joining a club that is renowned for training young prodigies. Adu is still very young, I'm not sure he will get the proper guidance, or achieve the potential that the American public thinks he will achieve.

I wasn't either. The English and Spanish leagues have been scouting the US for some time. The Italian teams have barely paid attention (NOT saying they should), but Ithought/think maybe an American player might get a little more respect from clubs in those countries. A lot of guys in England have worked hard to bring a measure of respect to American footballers. The Spanish clubs have made a number of offers for younger American players -- the transfers just haven't worked out.

I don't question at all AC Milan's rep for training young players -- that would be disingenuous to their history.

Okay, I understand what your getting at. For the record, you are absolutely correct. Italian clubs have been ignored the US, or North America in general.

However, we have exploited other areas, but that's apples and oranges.

Good point and point taken.

I agree, while I think MLS has helped many grow as players, I think it's hurt two of the youngsters in Adu and Danny Szetela.

Pelle was great, what else can I say.

I said it before that I think this U-20 squad is one of the weakest we've sent to the WC recently. In most area's I think the US was just as good if not better than most teams there but what hurt us is that we had no strike force whatsoever. We had Eddie Johnson last time and the lack of a true talented goal scorer is what killed the US this time around.

My thoughts. Berhalter is too slow at this point, I'd much rather see Bocanegra or Gibbs over him and Conrad. Bobby Convey needs to stop being called up. I don't think the Coca-Cola Championship is at or above the level of MLS, so why does he keep calling up a Reading reserve? Quaranta? WTF? I couldn't understand him as an emergency call-up for the Gold Cup, so why the heck is he part of this squad?

Hartman, what has he done recently? Why not Reis?

To be honest I'm glad Dempsey wasn't called up. I think Bruce's constant negativity has taken a toll on his confidence

That being said, this squad should definitely beat T&T.

How many shots does Twellman keep getting? He has been fantastic in the MLS -- probably deserves more press for his MLS play. But he really hasn't done a whole lot when playing for the US. He doesn't have a ton of caps -- but when he has played IMO he hasn't impressed.

I agree with everything except for Convey. By all reports he's looked great early on this season for Reading after having trouble settling last season. He's a versatile player, who can play all over the midield, and at left back. It also helps that he's left footed.

Rongen will bring a 20-player roster to Argentina, which includes 12 professionals. All but two – Nicolas Torres (Argentina) and Preston Zimmerman (Germany) – ply their trade in Major League Soccer. Torres, a midfielder from Miami, Fla., plays for Club Deportivo Espanol in the Argentine second division. After impressing during the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, Zimmerman signed with Hamburg SV in the German Bundesliga and is playing on the club’s reserve team. The Pasco, Wash., native talked about his move to Germany in the latest Center Circle.

Default U 20 Road Canada World Cup 07

Rongen called the following players
http://www.soccer365.com/US_NEWS/Nat...1_132557.shtml

The eight professional players represent five MLS teams, with the Columbus Crew, FC Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy each providing two players. Danny Szetela and Tim Ward were called in from Columbus, along with Dax McCarty and Blake Wagner from Dallas, and Quavas Kirk and Nathan Sturgis from the L.A. Galaxy.

The two remaining MLS players – Freddy Adu (D.C. United) and Josmer Altidore (N.Y. Red Bulls) – are two of the youngest in the league, and also on the Under-20 roster, but both have made impressive impacts for club and country. Adu is the most experienced player on the team with appearances a the past two FIFA U-20 World Cups, while Altidore burst onto the scene with a handful of goals at the end of the season for the Red Bulls.

Eight of the 14 players from the college ranks were part of U.S. Soccer’s Under-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla., including defender Julian Valentin (Wake Forest) who was named a NCAA Division I Second Team All-Americans. Two other players on the roster were named All-Americans as Sal Zizzo (UCLA) was also named to the Second Team and goalkeeper Chris Seitz (Maryland) was named to the Third Team
