I should say he doesn't think of the money. I was with him on one of the occasions when he got called up for the team and needless to say he was extremely happy and proud to wear the colors of his country.

What does being underpaid and wanting a raise have to do with trying to be the best?

1. WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

"I'm not part of it."
-- U.S. coach Bruce Arena, refusing to comment on the compensation dispute between U.S. national team players and U.S. Soccer that has forced the postponement of his January training camp. (Washington Post)

"What do you think?"
-- Arena, upon being asked about the dispute's potential impact on the USA's World Cup aspirations by Washington Post reporter Steven Goff.

LOSERS:

U.S. SOCCER and the U.S. NATIONAL TEAM PLAYERS enter the new year without a collective bargaining agreement, which has resulted in the postponement of its training camp in preparation for the final round of World Cup qualifying, which begins Feb. 9 at Trinidad & Tobago. The Federation has indicated it will use replacement players if the players' union doesn't finalize a deal by Feb. 1.

I'm with you Soccerdad, I also hate unions, in my life time IMO they've done more worse than than good. IMO 95 to 99% of unions today are evil and are unneeded.

Bruce Arena asked them to push back the deadline, but the USSF refused. Not good that Arena's worried and they won't listen.
