University of Detroit Soccer Teams
We have recently begun construction on a new field and track, which should be completed for the 2007 season.
U of D are members of the NCAA Division 1 in the Horizon league, and are the 2005 champions!
As the season starts i will begin to post more information for those who are interested.

Great news. If they have a soccer facility,I might as well inform my cousin who is training to be a pro soccer player but still studying in florida.
Closer to home would be good for him.

The Detroit Ignition of the Major Indoor Soccer League announced the results of their recent draft. With their fourth round pick, they took Titan senior Vahid Assadpour. This is the second straight year a Titan has received the opportunity to play professional soccer. Last year Andrew Ornoch signed with Papa Lombard in Hungary's top outdoor league.
Assadpour concluded his senior season leading the team with eight assists. He finished his career with 27 points, which ranks him second all-time on the Titan career list. He also scored eight career goals and had 43 career points, good for 18th on the Detroit career list. Assadpour played in 73 career games (72 starts) over four years, more than all but 12 players in Titan history.
The Detroit Ignition is in their first season of existence in the MISL. They currently are 15-10 and only a half game behind league leading Baltimore. Assadpour will be eligible to play at the start of the 2007-08 season

Former Detroit Titan men's soccer standout Andrew Ornoch earned his first cap with the Canadian national team, when they faced Hungary in an international friendly. A player earns a cap in international soccer whenever they represent their country in a match. Ornoch played soccer for Detroit from 2003-05 before leaving to play professional soccer in Hungary.
Ornoch is a member of the 40 player Canadian national team pool, which makes him eligible for selection for any future team Canada games, including World Cup qualifying. Born in 1985, he is the fourth youngest member of the pool.
Despite playing only three seasons, Ornoch ranks fourth on the Titan career goal scoring charts with 26. He is tied for seventh with 60 career points. During the 2005 season he led the team with 10 goals (including four game winners) and 25 points, helping Detroit to a 12-6-2 record and their second ever Horizon League regular season crown.

Head men's soccer coach Morris Lupenec announced today that the soccer program has received commitments from six student-athletes for the 2007 season. Among the group coming to Detroit is a pair of transfers and five freshmen.
Lupenec's commitments include Corey Martin (Macomb Twp., MI/Lutheran North), Jacob Mechlowitz (Sterling Hgts., MI/U of D Jesuit), Christopher Mulcahy (Livonia, MI/Stevenson), Jake Munchiando (Troy, MI/Oakland Univ.), Matt Spencer (Rochester Hills, MI/Bishop Foley) and Simon Zahra (New South Wales, Australia/Schoolcraft College).
"This class of new players brings a lot to our program," said Lupenec. "We fully expect to once again compete for the Horizon League Championship. These six individuals should contribute to UDM soccer not only this season but for their entire careers."
Transferring to UDM are junior college standout Zahra and freshman Muchiando. Zahra comes to Detroit from nearby Schoolcraft College in Livonia, where he teamed with current Titan Renato Susnja. Muchiando joins the Red, White and Blue after spending a red shirt season at Oakland University in the fall before enrolling at UDM last winter.
Zahra was an all-conference and all-region selection for the head coach Rick Larson and the Ocelots and helped his squad to a number 14 national ranking. Muchiando was an all-conference, all-region and honorable mention all-state selection at Athens HS in 2006.
Rounding out the newest group of Titans are Martin, Mechlowitz, Mulcahy and Spencer.
Martin, a defender, was an all-conference and all-state selection at Lutheran North. He also helped his club team - FC Nova - to the state cup finals.
Mechlowitz, a forward from U of D Jesuit HS, comes to the Titan program from the prestigious Vardar Soccer Club and after an All-Catholic High School League selection last fall.
Mulcahy was an all-division selection at Stevenson HS after scoring 23 goals. He also lettered in basketball and graduated with a 3.4 GPA.
Spencer may come in as the most decorated of the Titan freshman, having picked up three all-state nods and a pair of all-Catholic selections while at Bishop Foley.
Detroit opens the 2007 season at Cal-State Northridge on Aug. 31.
