Silverbacks Extend Winning Streak to 10 with 3-2 Overtime Win At

After going down 2 goals to none at the half, the Atlanta Silverbacks defeated the Richmond Kickers 3-2 in over-time tonight at home at Dekalb Memorial Stadium. The Silverbacks scored in the second half with a penalty kick by Brazilian defender Adilson De Lima, following a Richmond handball. Atlanta equalized later in the half with a header by team captain Alan Wood, after an assist by Velko Iotov. Atlanta clinched the game in the second overtime on a spectacular golden goal by the Bulgarian Iotov. The 3-2 win puts Atlanta tied with Montreal for first place in the Eastern Division.

The Silverbacks take on the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS in the U.S. Open Cup round of 16 on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at home at Dekalb Memorial Stadium in Atlanta

You are right Frank... And they play attacking football from the start to the end.

Men's Head Coach Tony Fonseca is a former Portuguese international with a dozen years playing and academy coaching experience at the top levels of European soccer. He also holds a Canadian National B License.

A native of Lisbon, this left-sided fullback played seven times for Portugal's National Team, as well as 33 national youth team appearances.

He spent most of his career in the Portuguese First Division, including three seasons with European powerhouse Benfica of Lisbon, two seasons with Vitoria Guimares, and seven seasons with Estrala da Amadora.

In all, Fonseca played 278 games in the First Division before leaving Estrala da Amadora to sign with Vancouver on July 13, 1999.

He was named Vancouver's assistant coach to Dale Mitchell in 2000,
a position he held for two seasons before being named Head Coach
on February 13, 2002.

Now retired as a player, Fonseca played 16 games for Vancouver over three seasons.

yeah -- I am. But I'm still waiting for the "shoe" to drop. I could be -- and hope I am wrong. I still wonder about the travel costs for a team with an A-league level budget.
