Silverbacks Extend Winning Streak to 10 with 3-2 Overtime Win At

Courtesy of the Atlanta Silverbacks
10.July.2004
After going down 2 goals to none at the half, the Atlanta Silverbacks defeated the Richmond Kickers 3-2 in over-time tonight at home at Dekalb Memorial Stadium. The Silverbacks scored in the second half with a penalty kick by Brazilian defender Adilson De Lima, following a Richmond handball. Atlanta equalized later in the half with a header by team captain Alan Wood, after an assist by Velko Iotov. Atlanta clinched the game in the second overtime on a spectacular golden goal by the Bulgarian Iotov. The 3-2 win puts Atlanta tied with Montreal for first place in the Eastern Division.

The Silverbacks take on the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS in the U.S. Open Cup round of 16 on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at home at Dekalb Memorial Stadium in Atlanta

I especially like this record...

Western Conference

A-League 2004 Pts GP W L T GF GA W L T GF GA W L T GF GA
Vancouver Whitecaps 32 17 10 5 2 22 18 4 3 1 12 12 6 2 1 10 6
Minnesota Thunder 30 16 9 4 3 19 7 9 2 0 18 4 0 2 3 1 3
Portland Timbers 27 14 9 5 0 31 18 5 3 0 20 10 4 2 0 11 8
Seattle Sounders 24 18 7 8 3 22 20 4 2 2 11 5 3 6 1 11 15
MilwaukeeWaveUnited 20 15 6 7 2 20 24 5 2 2 13 10 1 5 0 7 14
Edmonton Aviators 12 15 2 7 6 9 25 1 3 2 2 5 1 4 4 7 20
Calgary Mustangs 9 15 2 10 3 13 28 2 2 3 8 7 0 8 0 5 21

I knew the caps would kick ass in this division.

The Millwall coach said the A League was just below Div 1 in England.

I wish some Serie B teams would come over, heard anything?

yeah -- I am. But I'm still waiting for the "shoe" to drop. I could be -- and hope I am wrong. I still wonder about the travel costs for a team with an A-league level budget.
