City Islanders win 8-7 penalty kick tiebreaker
The Harrisburg City Islanders defeated the Richmond Kickers 8-7 in a nine-round penalty kick shootout Saturday night at the University of Richmond Stadium after playing to a 1-1 draw through 120 minutes of regulation and overtime. 8/22-24 USL-1 Round-Up: Three consecutive nights saw Seattle blank Atlanta 3-0 Wednesday, Portland edge Charleston 1-0 Thursday and Montreal down rival Rochester 2-0 Friday as the trio started to pull away from the pack as the contenders for the Commissioner's Cup as regular season champions.

I hadn't heard that they were moving from PDL. They are the first team to jump up to PDL. The next step would be USL2.
The survival question is a good one. Crowds are typically 200-300, from what I understand. The return of the Quakes may drive a stake through their heart; on the other hand, the Quakes are partnering with the Frogs (proof of tickets from one, gets you a discount on the other's tickets) |
