The game in Minnesota was in the Metrodome -- not at Minnesota's normal home pitch.

yeh, american football, is of a much higher quality than i 4t.
Tbh, i was a bit ignorant about it, as with the american attitude towards "proper" (again me being narrow minded about americans, but hey) sports. lol
In 20 years time I rekon the MLS will be a huge league. They've dun a good job tbf whoevers idea it was.

we are getting alot better but we need help from world football community. Soccer/Football gets next to know respect and the more the world best come here to play in tour is only going to help. If the US could host another World Cup here soon it would help the growth of the sport so much.

the US has improved alot and have a great room for improvement. But the thing that most people overlook is that soccer is getting the leftovers when your talking about america's best athlete's. We've got some good athlete's in MLS and our MNT but soccer isn't getting the elite athlete yet. Imagine US soccer having freak athlete's like atlanta Falcons QB Mike Vick, the NBA's Allen Iverson etc.

the US are afraid, if we have a lot teams in the MLS, your national team can take advantage, like they did in 1982

Courtesy of the Seattle Sounders
01.August.2004
(CALGARY, Alta.) - The Seattle Sounders began a two game road trip north of the border with a, 3-0, loss to the Calgary Mustangs in A-League action Sunday at McMahon Stadium. The setback drops Seattle's record to 8-10-4, but still one point ahead of Milwaukee in the battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They also dropped both games in Calgary this season, being outscored by a 5-1 margin.
A rather indifferent Sounder side failed to control possession much of the first half. In fact, it was Calgary who got on the board first only twelve minutes into the match.
The Sounders failed to gain possession of a ball just inside their 18-yard box. Defender Scott Jenkins attempted to head a ball back to his goalkeeper, Preston Burpo. After an awkward bounce, the ball ended up on the chest of the Mustangs Damir Jesic. Jesic left-footed a low ball through the legs of defender Zach Scott and into the net.
Two minutes later the Sounders thought they netted the equalizer. Kevin Sakuda gathered a 50/50 ball and sent a low shot toward Lutz Pfannentiel's goal. Sean Michael Callahan met the ball with his right foot and beat Pfannentiel. However the goal was called back due to a Sounders offside.
The home side extended their lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute courtesy of a rocket from Mesut Mert. After a Sounders giveaway in their end of the pitch, Mert collected the loose ball and sent a 40-yard bomb over Burpo's head.
While the Sounders second half effort created a few opportunities in the offensive third, they still could not dent the Mustangs defense. A Jonathan Bolanos free kick from 25 yards went over the bar as did a Zach Scott header off a corner kick.
Calgary finally salted away the win as Jesic scored his second of the match in stoppage time at the end of regulation.
The Sounders road trip through Alberta continues tomorrow in Edmonton before they return home to Qwest Field on Saturday to host the Minnesota Thunder on August 7th at 7:00 p.m.

4 A-League teams in the Open Cup
Four A-League teams in quarterfinals
8/3/2004, 2:31 p.m. ET
The Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) — Four A-League teams reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup for the first time since MLS teams began entering the tournament in 1996.
The quarterfinals are Wednesday night. The semifinals are Aug. 24-25, and the final Sept. 22.
The Minnesota Thunder, Richmond Kickers, Charleston Battery and Rochester Raging Rhinos are the lower-division teams that advanced to the quarterfinals. The A-League is assured of a semifinalist for the first time since 1999, with Charleston and Rochester playing each other Wednesday in Rochester, N.Y.
The Chicago Fire, Dallas Burn, San Jose Earthquakes and Kansas City Wizards of the MLS also are in the quarterfinals.
The U.S. Open Cup is the country's oldest soccer tournament, open amateur and pro teams.

I respectfully disagree. The US Open Cup is the championship of US soccer for all teams at all levels. It should not be open to teams outside of the United States. It's one of oldest Cup competitions in the world contested since 1914.
Vancouver should try to work on Canadian Soccer to get a full fledged version going in Canada. I think that would be oustanding for Canadian Soccer.
Canadian teams in the A-league or potentially MLS is one thing -- not in the US Open Cup.
My board name is for Bethlehem Steel FC who won the Open Cup five times. It's my hometown.
