Burnley 0-1 Portsmouth [Carling Cup] (25.09)
Quote:
Harry Redknapp will test the strength of his Portsmouth squad for the Carling Cup tie at Burnley.
The Pompey boss feels he has assembled a quality group at Fratton Park and is likely to shuffle his pack for the trip to Burnley.
Redknapp rotated his squad for the second-round win over Leeds United and several changes are expected for Tuesday's third-round clash at Turf Moor.
Jamie Ashdown is likely to be given a chance in goal, while Martin Cranie could come back into the defence.
Pedro Mendes should be restored to the midfield, while Arnold Mvuemba and Richard Hughes are also pressing for a game.
Noe Pamarot and Matt Taylor are other players in contention, and former Preston striker David Nugent will be hoping to start.
Unbeaten
Burnley eased to a 3-0 home win over Oldham Athletic in the last round, but it is now Steve Cotterill's turn to eye an upset.
The Championship club are unbeaten at home this season, but do have a couple of injury concerns as Cotterill looks to preserve that record.
Chris McCann is struggling with a hamstring injury, which forced the midfielder out of Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bristol City after 20 minutes.
Alan Mahon is also a worry with a thigh injury, although Andy Gray should be fine to figure after a foot injury.
