Liverpool are up for the Final against Man U tonight!
Liverpool v Manchester United
The FA Youth Cup Final, Sponsored by E.ON
First Leg
7.45pm, Monday 16 April 2007
Anfield
Midfielder Michael Burns is confident Liverpool can become only the fifth team to successfully defend The FA Youth Cup.
Crystal Palace, Chelsea and, most recently, Arsenal have won back-to-back trophies since the competition began in 1953 - when Manchester United claimed the first five in a row.
Liverpool must now beat United if they are to join that illustrious group and keep the trophy they won against Manchester City in The Final last season.
Burns said: "It is very important to all the players here. And the fact it is against Manchester United makes it even more important.
"I would love to win it. We know it is going to be hard for us, but we can pull through.
"The squad has been together since we were ten-years-old and the team morale is brilliant.
"We are really looking forward to the games because we are the holders and to win back-to-back trophies would be a real achievement. Arsenal did it in 2000 and 2001 and we would love to copy that.
"I can't wait for the games. I missed out on The Final last year because there were players here that were older than me, so it is my first Final with the club."
Before last season, the only time Liverpool had lifted the trophy was back in 1996 when Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen were the stars that lit up the youth side.
And Burns revealed the club's local heroes still send messages of encouragement to the current youth side.
He added: "We have received messages from both Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher ahead of a lot of our matches and it means a lot to us because they have been through it themselves before.
"They know what it is like to play in these games and I am sure they got messages from senior players when they were in our situation."

Still half your lads are apparently eligible this year so yer never know, but United are a strong side. As well as Welbeck they've got Cathcart, Sam Hewson and Fabian Brandy, all good players.

Will Cathcart play though? With our defensive injury problems he'll probably be on the bench against Sheffield United tomorrow so I doubt he'll play tonight.

United kids were great and Hewson looks a real gem. He reminds me already of a bit of Bryan Robson and Paul Scholes.
His interview was funny after the game, he said he was more nervous about this interview then taking the penelty in front of the kop
