Not really.
I mean. He did do a great job. But it was still just part of the "whole picture".
Bale gave a good performance of his own. So did the other guy playing Harvey Dent.
If you just take the contribution made by whoever (Batman, Joker or Two-Face), it would change everything.

I felt that bale didn't get a lot of screen time.... nonetheless everything came into its own.

Well considering there wouldn't be a villian without those scenes...yes it would be somewhat dull.

We already know what Bale is about from the first movie, it would be pointless to concentrate on him. He really is still a playboy at heart, we sort of know that from the comics, meaning few really long lasting love interests.
My question is this, if they make another one, are they going to explore the possibility of adding "Robin", who I never cared for.

I think they will and I'm pretty sure Robin will be the commissioner's son.

The story of Robin's origin, in that he was the chief's son? I just looked it up, and there is no definite on his origins, so I think this can work.

I didn't read the comic books, so that was just a hunch, I have no idea. But it would work indeed, makes sense imo specially when you consider what the kid said:
"it's not the batman's fault", or something along those lines.

Well I only see one more movie, I would be surprised if there is mroe than that. So they would have to go into the future to pull this off.

if i remember correctly Robin was an orphan from the circus whose parents were both killed by a thief or something....
but the movie doesn't have to stick to the comics exactly so it could still be the commissioner's son.

I was hesitant going in, since all the hype was generated by viral marketing, but it really was a great film. It was long, but unlike most lengthy movies, your mind never wandered.
The only thing that sucked were my seats. I was a few rows up from the front. 1st time thats happened to me in a while.

Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar for that performance.
It was awesome.

Watched this yesterday.
I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Gary Oldman's performance in the film yet. IMO he was just as good as Ledger (just the film isn't about him and he didn't receive the sympathy hype). He played the Gordon character brilliantly, while Ledger was over the top, chrasmatic and geniunely scary, Oldman was very believable as the everyman commisioner.
Just from a visual stand point the film looked incredible, visually the best movie I've seen in ages.
I liked the Joker's agenda in this movie (trying to prove that even the good guys are bad underneath).
Excellent film.
I agree about Ledger's nomination for an Oscar but surely not for 'leading male' as he's not in the film long enough (my only problem with the film).

Watched it this week. What happenend to Gotham ? Bit to nicey nicey for my liking compared to Gotham from previous movie.
Also Bale in his batman guise. His voice was too much like Michael Keatons batman in terms of Husky voice
Also sods law that Heath croakes it, best character from this film so now unable to reprise his role.
Still a good movie though despite my minor gripes.
