While a very good movie, it is not the Godfather.
What do you mean take over top spot??
My impressions that it was very good, and that you have to see it more than once to get the full impression of it.
Ledger's peformance was very good. Oscar worthy..IMHO.

I saw it last night, what a movie... loved it.
The only flaw imo was that during all the action scenes the camera was doing that really annoying rotating thing, I assume it's to stop it being excessively gorey or whatever but it was giving me a headache, especially when his sonar screwed up.
I thought most of the acting by all of the cast was pretty awesome, great film, very long but well worth it.

I mean the top 250 movies list on imdb. It's first now, but I don't think it's going to last over the years, or is it?

That has been happening a lot. I wouldn't pay too much attention to that.
IMDB has to fix their rating system or weigh it differently according to age, since most teenagers today wouldn't know what the hell the Godfather is or was.
So no, it should never ever be considered in the same breath as that movie.

It might be ranking it in terms of opening weekend revenues....but all time like favourites list...Godfather is still at the top id say...its a brilliant movie/novel...the dark night is just a cool movie because of the special effects...not the plot or penmenship

I saw it for a second time yesterday.... pure brilliance. Heath did an amazing job, its sucks he didn't get a lot of screen time.
The Dark Knight could beat Titanic to become the biggest grossing film of all time.
The film took in another $23.1 on Friday and is expected to make around $73 million this weekend.

Just got back from seeing Dark Knight. EASILY one of the best movies I have ever seen. Certaily better than some of the Academy Award winners over the last decade or two (coughShakespeare In Lovecough). Ledger, wow, he was just phenominal. Definitely Oscar worthy as well. I say this could definitely be one of the top 5 movies of all time, right up there with Pulp Fiction, the Godfather(s) and the Shawshank Redemption.

Anyone else think that if the Heath Ledger as The Joker scenes weren't in the film ...this film would be so average?
I thought Ledger basically made this film such a hit as he played The Joker ...perfectly
