I don't think people are seeing it because of Heath's death at all. They've done no marketing of the film to capitalize on his death. He's the Joker and if he was alive the Marketing would've been the same and what people have to remember is that people were going nuts about this film since this time last year when the viral marketing started.
The reason people are coming out in record numbers is that after seeing Batman Begin, they were blown away by how good it was and that the next Batman was going to feature his most famous as well as most popular villain Joker. But beyond that it was the fact that this movie has gotten great buzz and there early reviews were beyond awesome by saying it's Godfather 2 and The Empire Strikes Back.

I loved Batman Begins, I thought it was great but the Dark Knight is so good it makes begins look average that how good the film is.
The movie may be based off a comic book but it's not a comic book movie at all, it's just a great movie that transcends the genre and so far it's the best movie this year and IMO it's not even close.
The acting is superb, there are so many class actors in this film it's scary and Heath Ledger is beyond words how good he was and we all know Christian Bale is great but Aaron Eckhart was downright amazing and if it wasn't for Heath being so out of this world good a lot more people would be taking notice how good Eckhart is in The Dark Knight.

Almost all of the commercials were centered around heath ledger...it looks more like a joker movie then a batman movie..
You cant think that at least 10% of people only went to see it "THIS WEEKEND" because it was heath ledgers last performance... And like i said it only outgrossed spider man by 4 million..10% of 155 million is 15.5 million...which means
if those 10% of people even 5% about 8 million or 3.5% about 6 million dollars worth of people didnt go just because heath died then they wouldnt have beat out spiderman
I guarentee that at least 3.5 out of everyone 100 people only went because of his death if not more...so theres is your tipping money to put them past spiderman
Im not saying its not a good movie...im gonna go see it i cant wait to see it...im just saying
I went to business school so i think this way alot pretty much about everything...you gotta ask why it beat out spiderman...and if you do the math theres not doubt that at least 3.5 out of every 100 people about 6 million dollars worth of the gorss went just because they wanted to see his highly waited for last film...

Christian Bale arrested in London
Christian Bale, star of the latest Batman blockbuster, has been arrested in London on allegations of assault, media reported on Tuesday.
The reports could not be independently confirmed but, when asked if Bale had been arrested, a police spokesman said:
Quote:
|
"A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody."
|
The wording is the usual tangential way that British police have of confirming an arrest of a well-known personality.
The arrest follows an allegation of assault by his mother and sister, the tabloid Sun newspaper said.

Do you guys think this movie can last long enough in the top spot like Godfather or it might drop spots over the years?
