Interesting.
I have to admit, I'm somewhat surprised by this attention that Ledger is getting.
Not saying he wasn't a good actor, but is it because he has passed(God rest his soul) or it really is good.
This is the same guy who made A knight's tale, which I liked a lot, but still.

I liked his portrayal. Heath starred in 'Brokeback Mountain'... which he got an oscar nom. But I do believe since he has died, people want to commerate their time watching his last masterpiece.
Oh, btw, The Dark Knight was better then Indiana Jones, Ironman, & The Hulk.

I never doubted that it would be to be honest.
It has Christian Bale in it, it was going to be better no matter what.
To me, Bale is an incredible actor, who only has begun to show us what he can do. Incredible talent....mind you, I knew this when I saw American Pshyco which I love and own.

Dude. Heath was fucking awesome as The Joker.
It's a true shame that he died.

I grew up a Batman fan so I'm biased but the pace of the film was better then both of those films. The IMAX experience is awesome.
For its genre, It surpassed 'Batman Begins', which was a great film.
Here's the statistics for the weekend:
Quote:
The Dark Knight grossed a behemoth $155.3 million from Friday through Sunday, Biggest Debut Ever.
It scored the biggest three-day opening weekend of all time (beating Spider-Man 3's $151.1 mil
It achieved the best opening day and single day in history ($66.4 mil, shattering Spider-Man 3's mark of $59.8 mil
It banked a record $6.2 mil from 94 IMAX venues over the weekend (Spider-Man 3 had the old record, $4.7 mil). And it did it all with the biggest theater count, 4,366 locations, of all time
|
So take that in your pipe and smoke it

Thats preposterous to say that just because of Heath's passing, people wanted to see the film on behalf of him. I still think it would've broken records.
The fact it made that much on a Non-Holiday says something about the franchise.

People would have seen it...but the main reason alot of people are going to see it is because they want to see heath ledgers final role...and theyve been showcasing this as his best anf final role...im not saying alot of people wouldnt have seen it...but i def thinkg that it pushed them over the top...it made that 5 million dollar difference that gave them the record over spiderman

Yeah, you can make that case but I don't think the move executives thought it would out gross 'Spiderman' by that margin.... TDK is going to be huge.
NOTE: When Brandon Lee (Bruce Lees' son) died, 'The Crow' DVD sales were a hot seller.
