I bought and watched Casino on dvd last night. I thought it was brilliant. It reminded me of Goodfellas. For three hours, I was never bored. I was aware how long I had been sitting, but I never found myself tapping my fingers. Scorsese knows how to keep his audience intrigued, and this is a good thing at 180 minutes.

Thanks for reminding me. I've just updated my collection. 450 movies.
I've heard a lot of good things about Boondock Saints. I'm gonna see it, if I get the chance.

This is a typical suspense movie. It stars Bruce willis & Halle berry, both are good in this film but the movie in general lacks in story. Way to many cut off angles and not enough boobies. I must admit berry is very sexy, and she shows off her well maintained body to the max.
Overall, I give it a 6/10. No point in renting this flick. It's ok, if your a die hard thriller enthusiast but not much to brag about as far as dialogue.

Just bought The Departed on DVD. Amazing movie with a fantastic cast. Sensational acting combined with a plot which felt like something new makes this movie into one of the best ever made.
10/10

yeah Ken it was a great movie. There are so many movies these days that do the same thing over and over so it's cool to see a fresh story/approach. I loved it.

I watched The Bourne Identity again last night (it was on TV). Decent film better book. Also Matt Damon isn't that convincing as the all action hero (he looks very young in that film and seems a bit wooden is the action sequences).
Its a good movie series but IMO the first film is certainly not the best.

The Bourne Identity is very entertaining. The chase scenes and fight scenes are well made. The story is great, and the movie doesn't slow down. It's a good action movie with a deep plot, which is rare.
The casting of Matt Damon was perfect imo. He brings a vulnerability to a character who could have been played in a stereotypical way from a lesser actor .

G.I. Jane (1997), watched it yesterday night.
Navy stuff, starring Demi Moore.

GI Jane entertains for two hours, but it's a forgetable flick.

One of the first films to examine the aftermath of post- 9/11 New York City, Reign Over Me shows how much even indirect contact with those who lost loved ones in the tragedy can greatly affect. Like rings of debris spiraling out from an explosion, Charlie Fineman's (Adam Sandler) loss also devastates his in-laws, who he refuses to speak to, and ex-college roommate, Alan Johnson. Reign Over Me stars Johnson, a successful dentist with a gorgeous wife, Janeane (Jada Pinkett Smith) and two kids, who finds Charlie reverted back into a teenage wasteland, unable to face his unbearable sadness.
|
I saw reign over me last night and I would say it's pretty slow moving. The director pictured this annoying blur fadeouts and incorporated a simplistic view without angles. The writing was alittle bit rushed, also the photography was poor, it looked like they shot the film in NYC, mostly night. I was impressed by adam sandler's performance, he can play these serious roles and with cheadle as his support -- The chemistry was there.
Overall, I would rate this movie a 6/10.
