Official: Spurs sign Dos Santos
Quote:
Dos Santos To Tottenham This Week
Giovani Dos Santos is on the verge of completing a move from Barcelona to Tottenham Hotspur after a basic agreement was reached between all three parties.
The 19-year-old Mexican international could join the Premier League side as early as Monday according to Sport after Barça accepted an €8m bid.
That fee may rise to €11m depending on both Dos Santos and Tottenham meeting specified targets during his four-year stay at White Hart Lane.
Dos Santos' father, Zizinho, admitted that his son is proud and excited by the thought of moving to such a prestigious club as he told Mexican daily paper, Record, that a deal was in the offing.
"Nothing has been finalised," he said. "But it is an honour that a club as important as Tottenham want to sign Giovani, but nothing can be said officially yet.
"The ambitious project that Tottenham have has excited Giovani and he just wants to go there and help the team in any way he can.
"It is obvious that leaving Barcelona is a risky decision, but with his qualities it appears that it could be the best option for him."
Juande Ramos was very keen to land the starlet because he strongly believes that his pace, ability to break into the area and shooting ability make him perfect for the English game.
Although a deal has not been finalised, Dos Santos' agent, Pini Zahivi, and Barça's sporting vice-president, Marc Ingla, believe that there will be few problems in reaching an agreement.
Throughout the negotiations, Dos Santos himself has been undergoing treatment to recover from a an operation that he had on his ankle in the middle of May and is set to keep him out of action for another four weeks.

I am sceptical and IMO he's not worth that fee. He hasn't showed us the same skills as the supertalents.

Barca won't feel the loss, until he become a huge star..
Good move for the Spurs. Juande Ramos is doing a great job there..
The fee is bit too high for an unproven player, but don't forget that if Dos Santos makes a few good shows, then his price will be doubled...
IMO, it's good to have this gamble on such a talented player.

I think Spurs are in a position to make a few gambles now. New manager, cup success last season and we can only really get better in the Prem because last season was not good. If it works he'll look like a bargain for the price but of course guys like Boateng do make some of these gambles look like bad moves

His current ability is about €8m. His potential ability is about €25-30m.
Barca refused to pay his wage demands so he's decided to get higher wages elsewhere, which is a shame as Barca lets it's youngsters come through and play in the first team. He's quite physical for a young player so might suit the Prem and can play on either wing although his best performace for Barca was as a playmaker coming from the centre of midfield.

With Lennon on the right and Dos Santos on the left, Spurs will be loaded with pace. Consistancy and delivery will be needed from both though.

The guy is very talented, but more than a bit tempermental, and has been seriously eclipsed at Barca by his former youth teammates Messi and Bojan. If Juande can the best of out him, Spurs will have done very well for themselves.

Giovani transferred to Tottenham Hotspur
Quote:
FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur FC have come to an agreement for the transfer of Giovani Dos Santos to the English club.
The Mexican will sign for the club managed by Juande Ramos until June 30, 2013 for a fee 6 million euros plus another 5 million depending on the player’s appearances for the London club during his five year’s of contract.
FC Barcelona also maintain 20% of the financial rights to any possible transfer of the player during his first two years of contract and 10% on any transfer from his new club, Tottenham Hotspur FC.
Giovani dos Santos, aged 19, joined Barça in 2002/03 and joined the Infantil A (Under 15) squad, eventually making his first team debut in 2007/08, in which he has played an intermittent part in Frank Rijkaard’s first team.

He was quite average all season but was awesome in the last game of the season where he played in central midfield and got a hatrick.
2nd goal was a cheeky lob and the third was a nice half volley after controlling it.

I'd be very worried about him settling in England if it wasn't for Juande, but as long as he's there. He's also unpopular because he's been quite vocal about not getting enough playing time and rather subject to sulks, whereas Bojan has been the perfect Boy Scout. Barca supporters don't question his ability at all.
You guys fear should be that Modrić, dos Santos, Jenas and Lennon are much too similar as to be able to play in the same team, and that Taino and Zakora aren't anywhere near enough to balance them.
