Default Kaboul belittles Ramos effect on Spurs

Damn, them's fighting words. I don't like to hear this kind of talk.

Kaboul belittles Ramos effect on Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul has launched an astonishing attack on manager Juande Ramos, claiming their Carling Cup triumph was 'nothing to do with him' and that they would still have won it under former boss Martin Jol.

Kaboul also claimed that Ramos does not communicate with the players and that the Spanish coach has not given him a chance since he replaced Jol last October.

Ramos has been widely praised for his work with Spurs after their disappointing start to the season, but Kaboul has not featured in the first-team since March 1 and is clearly unhappy with his life at White Hart Lane under Ramos.

'Tactically it has changed a bit, perhaps,' said Kaboul. 'But then, in terms of personality, Martin was a character.

'For us, he was a father-figure, whereas Ramos, it is just tactics and nothing else.

'In training, we do a lot of 11 v 0 and stuff on the blackboard to work on our progress with the ball.

'Ramos has brought us that, but nothing else. What has saved us this season is the Carling Cup. People say we won the Carling Cup because Ramos arrived at the club, but that has nothing to do with him. We would have won it with Martin Jol.'

The 22-year-old Frenchman last played in the 4-1 defeat at the hands of struggling Birmingham at St Andrew's.

But Kaboul, signed from Auxerre last summer, has not featured regularly since Ramos replaced the ousted Jol.

'I played the entire first half of the season but since the change of manager, I have not played,' said Kaboul.

'I have had no explanation from him. He doesn't talk, with anyone. Communication doesn't exist with him. He isn't playing me? That is his choice - I respect it, I am a professional.

'I am young and it is the first time this has happened to me in my career. But I am not surprised because when you are a footballer, you must be prepared for that, for good and bad times.'

'Ramos has not really given me a chance. When a player doesn't have the confidence of his coach, he can't do much on the pitch. But when a coach has confidence in you, you take the handbrake off and you race away.'

What an idiot this chap is.

He'll be gone in the summer, off to destroy someone elses defence.

This is hilarious:

"'I played the entire first half of the season but since the change of manager, I have not played"

Yeah and the team has improved immensely.

What a muppet. Spurs will be better off when he's gone.

Just out of interest, can you think of any situations where it's helped a player speak out in public against his coach. It's one thing if you're a star but in Kaboul's case it just seems like suicide to do this. ffs, if you're having a problem then go to the coach and talk to him but speaking out to the media is really not a good way to go.

It's career suicide to do this. Especially when you're a reserve like Kaboul. He's the fourth best CB at Spurs. He's young and now hes gonna have a reputation as a trouble maker for the rest of his career.

If it was Berbatov or Dawson or someone who really is a top class player speaking out like this you'd think maybe there is something to it. But it's not so i wouldn't pay any attention to this.

Too right. I'd like to see Kaboul leave in the summer, but after this I'm not sure who would want to buy him.

His comment about the Carling Cup win is wrong anyway. As much as I loved Martin Jol, I don't think we would have won it under him. You could see the difference in the fitness of the players after Ramos came in, and this had a lot to do with the victories over Arsenal & Chelsea.

I just hope we can get at least half of the £8m back we spent on him.

You paid 8million for him? Jesus, i thought it was 5million. And at that i thought it was a bad deal! Why on earth didn't you go for Curtis Davies. Twice the player, much better attitude. Imagine Dawson and Davies at the heart of your defense. With Hutton and Bale as your fullbacks. That's a defense that can be together for the next 10 years. Throw in Huddlestone in centre midfield and Lennon on the right, and Bent upfront(he will become a star IMO) and Spurs would have a very very bright longterm future ahead of them.

I agree that Curtis Davies would have been a much better signing than Kaboul, but I'm still not convinced by Dawson. He was really good when he first got into the team, but this season he made quite a few mistakes which cost us. For some reason he's not the same player without Ledley King beside him. I'm not really sure if Ramos rates him either. Still, you can add Woodgate to that defence as well, although he is getting on a bit .

Woodgate is over-rated.

Dawson is a great player IMO. The closest thing i've seen to Tony Adams. I think the injuries to the players around him, and the awful goalkeeper behind him are what caused the mistakes.

Have faith in Dawson.
