Today's a real test of metal and Ramos tactics. We're away from home and have conceded a crucial goal at the Lane. We need the win to stay in the UEFA cup obviously and typically Spurs would not be able to pull this off. We have had issues away from home in past years and we need to come from behind. Ramos has been magic and the team have a lot more durability now so let's hope we can do it.

'It is because they want to help with goals. We need help in this tie and they are ready and want to help.

'They are one of the best partnerships in the Premier League. When they play the game is so easy for Spurs. They are good players together, they are very clever players.

'It's not telepathy, they are intelligent players and when they play together they play well.'

Ramos has called for a Spurs performance to match his last trip to Eindhoven when he won his first trophy as a manager.

The Spaniard guided Sevilla to victory over Middlesbrough at the ground in the 2006 UEFA Cup final before defending the title last season - but his hopes of a hat-trick are now in the balance.

'We are going to need a similar type of performance as Sevilla produced last time here,' he added.

'The players are going to have to play at an extremely high level to get through.

'Tottenham always play to win, whether we start 0-0, winning 1-0 or losing 1-0. We have not other type of football or concept of playing.

'We are going to play like we always do and nothing more.'

An incentive to score more than one goal comes from wanting to avoid extra time, as PSV had the weekend off due to a police strike.

'That might give them an extra advantage,' admitted Ramos.

Gilberto used the weekend fixture against West Ham to build up his confidence after being at fault for Jefferson Farfan's goal for PSV last Thursday.

The Brazil full-back scored in the 4-0 win over the Hammers but Ramos still dropped him from the squad travelling to Eindhoven.

PSV Eindhoven coach Sef Vergoossen believes his side's UEFA Cup clash against Tottenham would be more fitting in the Champions League.

The Dutch title holders dropped down from Europe's top competition mid-season, while Spurs have aims to eventually get there under Juande Ramos.

Vergoossen saw enough last week, when PSV established a 1-0 lead in the last-16 tie, to suggest the two teams would look the part among the elite.

'When we played at Tottenham in that atmosphere it had exactly the same feeling as the Champions League,' he said.

'It was also the feeling looking at the players.'

Vergoossen does not want to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup by defending their slender lead from London.

He added: 'It would not be clever to start a game thinking that a draw is enough for us.

'I know for sure that a mentality like that would be a big problem for us. We have to play the same way, with the intention to score.'

The PSV coach also feels his players will benefit from having the weekend off due to a police strike.

He wanted to play their match against Ajax, but added: 'For sure, it is better that we had two days extra of rest.'

Generally his finishing is always sh!t.

Didnt his miss a peno for you guys before..... too laid back or something he was....

or was that for Newcastle?

he should have looked at gomes, he looked at the ball the whole time and then hit such a soft pen....

altho chimbonda should have done better too.

Robinson is one of the worst keepers in a penalty shootout ever. You can always gurantee he dives the wrong way or at least that he will dive before the taker has taken the penalty.

Jenas' pen wasn't that bad. It had more height then pens that are usually saved and it was in the corner. Ity was a great save by the keeper who was the difference. Robinson wouldn't have got close to a pen as good as that.

I think it was for Newcastle when Bobby Robson was the manager. He was too laid back and tried to chip it down the middle and it went over the bar, as I remember. I'm sure it was only in a pre-season friendly tournament though.

I know it's easy to say now, but when you have a penalty that's as important as Jenas' v PSV, you should just smash it down the middle. It's still got a chance of going in even if the keeper gets a hand to it.

I just don't understand how a player who plays football every day and gets paid for doing it can miss a 10 foot wide goalmout from 12 yards.
