Berbatov and Kaboul injury blow
Quote:
Tottenham have been hit by a double injury blow to Dimitar Berbatov and Younes Kaboul.
Berbatov has suffered a recurrence of an old groin injury and will be unavailable for two weeks, while defender Kaboul faces a possible month out of action with a hamstring strain.
Spurs have endured a miserable start to their Premier League season after losing their opening game to Sunderland and then crashing 3-1 at home to Everton on Tuesday night.
Manager Martin Jol also has a burgeoning injury list to consider, with Berbatov and Kaboul joining Ledley King, Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon, Gareth Bale and Lee Young-Pyo on the sidelines.
"We've had a couple more blows," said Jol.
"Younes Kaboul will be out for the next three or four weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered against Everton, that's a real kick in the teeth and Dimitar Berbatov has a groin problem.
"It's an old problem and he will now visit a specialist in Germany. He will be out for a couple of weeks."
However, Jol is optimistic he will soon be able to select Young-Pyo and Bale.
"Gareth Bale is looking better," Jol added.
"Our medical team have also told me that Young-Pyo Lee is up to 85 per cent fitness and that will soon be 100 per cent."

Berbatov injury will give Keane, Defoe and Bent a chance. The back 4 is a concern with all these injuries. We need Bale to recover quickly.

Especially in defence.
Gardner, Rocha & Stalteri in defence
Berbatov has been looking sluggish so far anyway so maybe it's best he takes a break anyway.

It is harsh but if you look back before Jol came on board you'll see that we always had a bunch of injuries. I used to think we were unlucky and then I started to read up more and it seemed that our training and physiotherapy was the cause of some of it. I think they've fixed that and now it really is a stroke of bad luck but it is interesting to note that it has been a problem for us in the past. Kyan, you're right about Dimitar. He always looks a little lazy, even at the best of times but he hasn't been himself so a break is not a bad thing. Bent, Keane and Defoe will get to fight it out or maybe Keane will be played behind the front 2 while the midfield still gets going. Would be awesome to see Boateng get a crack and hopefully Bale will be in there soon.
