Bent off for Defoe. I didn't even realise Bent was playing.

Tottenham are getting forward more now - but Everton just look the fitter of the sides right now. It's down to Defoe now, imo, he's the sub with pace, he's the threat.

Defoe makes a quick impact. He definitely has the pace.

Robinson made a save off AJ - one he should be making every time, yes, but it might improve his confidence which looks pretty shot.

Defoe could have scored there - good save Howard.
He is making an impact.

Paul Robinson is fucking terrible.
Zokora, Jenas & Malbranque have not been much better tonight.
Credit the BS though they have controlled the game, Arteta & Osman have been very good and Anichebe & Johnson have caused loads of problems. With Baines for Stubbs (Lescott to the middle), Fernandes for Carsley & Jagielka for Hibbert to come in, Everton could really do something this season.

I don't know what makes me more upset, how bad Paul Robinson is, or fact he's best England have in goal ,
Spurs have been disapointing again, Martin Jol could be looking over his shoulder much earlier then I thought.

Great football from Everton, again could well have scored, but it was Robinson who kept them out.
But Spurs have lost here, 3-1FT

Everton looked impressive tonight. spurs gave a number of injuries but should still be concerned with their start to the season.

Even with the injured players back - they still lack a left winger and a bit of bite in midfield. If they want to try and break the top 4, they need that to get back on track and up to the speed.
But it's not the end of the world, there's still 36 games, you just need some adjustments.

Don't really have much to say that hasn't already been said. I couldn't watch the last few minutes but I knew that it couldn't really get much worse.
I don't think that we should panic, but I think that they really need to regroup and figure things out. Injuries aside, they need to get their morale up. Even Berbs looked ordinary today.

I'm gonna watch the replay of this a bit later....
TBH I think Jol may come under pressure if 10 games into the season he's not in the top 8...
I'm quite confused though, I think Jol is a good manager, and I'd like to q uestion his buying policy, but tbh I don't think he's done too much wrong this summer. Bought a LB (necessary), bought a CB (necessary), bought a striker (not necessary at all), bought an AM (not necessary but a useful addition). The 1 mistake he could have made is that he bought Bent rather than a good DM, but Jol needs to wake his players up and get them playing.
Zokora can do a decent enough job at DM, it's Jenas that needs replacing, what's happened to Kevin Prince Boateng and even Adel Taraabt?
