Well past his best, strange signing.
The way i understand it, Spurs have an investment group. That's a group that expects a return on its investment. If they don't get it, they'll pull the plug.

Tottenham are on the verge of landing Barcelona superkid Giovani dos Santos in a £12.5million deal. The Mirror says the capture of Dos Santos is a sensational coup for Spurs boss Juande Ramos as the 19-year-old is one of football's most coveted young stars.

Tottenham have tabled a bid for Sevilla winger Diego Capel. Diario de Sevilla says Spurs have offered more than Capel's current £10 million buyout clause after having a previous bid turned down by Sevilla during the January market.
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido is currently considering the proposal.

Spurs To Swoop For Santa Cruz?
Quote:
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly lined up Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz as a direct replacement for the outgoing Dimitar Berbatov…
The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are intent on signing Berbatov over the coming week after having a ₤20million bid rejected recently. Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in a new option up front and is supposedly prepared to fork out around ₤25million for the Bulgarian hitman.
Combined with the potential departures of both Robbie Keane and Darren Bent, this leaves Spurs in desperate need of a new striker. Diego Milito has been mentioned as a possible target following Real Zaragoza’s shock relegation, as has Ajax gun Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
However, it is understood Spurs boss Juande Ramos has made Santa Cruz – also linked with United – his number one target as he seeks to completely overhaul the team’s attacking structure.
Arsenal have also been keeping a close eye on the Paraguayan international, who scored 23 goals during his first season in England, and Spurs’ interest is sure to spark speculation of a bidding war between the north London rivals.
Rovers are reluctant to sell, however, as new manager Paul Ince is determined to keep hold of both Santa Cruz and David Bentley during his first summer in charge at Ewood Park.

Tottenham have joined the race to sign F.Meira
Tottenham to snatch Stuttgart's Portugal international defender Meira | Mail Online
Quote:
Tottenham have emerged as the front runners to snatch the signature of Vfb Stuttgart's Portuguese international centre back Fernando Meira, following the 30-year-old's departure from the club.
Recently linked with Juventus, Liverpool and Galatasaray, the 30-year old Stuttgart captain has left the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, with the club's website confirming Meira's departure, following six-and-and-a-half years with the club.
'On Sunday afternoon, Fernando Meira departed VfB's training camp in Going. The Portuguese international was collected by his agent. Meira's future will be decided over the next few days after he decided it was time for a change following six and a half years in Stuttgart,' the website says.
VfB sport director Horst Heldt said: 'We have initially released Fernando Meira from training. He has a number of offers that he needs to go through.
'I spoke to him last year after we refused to allow him to transfer to Juventus. Back then I told him that we would be open to discuss matters this summer if he should be made an offer from another club. That has happened now and Fernando has decided to try something new. For us, his decision to leave VfB is not an easy one to take.'
At 6'3', Meira towers over Spurs' Ricardo Rocha - who was recently denied a transfer to Hull because of his height - and has enormous experience, including 50 caps for his country.
Since joining Stuttgart in 2002 from Benfica for £5million, Meira has amassed over 300 first team appearances for the German outfit, who featured in last season's Champions League.

Kaboul leaves to Pompy
Harry Redknapp has made French defender Younes Kaboul his newest recruit after agreeing a £6million deal with Spurs. The 22-year-old centre-back signed a four-year contract after passing a medical at Fratton Park on Monday and should be available for next Sunday's Premier League opener against Chelsea.
Kaboul said: 'I came here because the manager has wanted me for two years. I met him two years ago when I was at Auxerre and I like the man because he gives you confidence.'
I think Ramos is making smart moves here. He needs to buy and sell the way he wants to do it and we need to forget about what Jol did and whether it would have worked or not.

its been rumored today that when spurs sell berbatov to united that you guys are going to try to sign huntelaar. to be honest, i think that huntelaar will be brilliant for you guys... he's very good in the box and definitely has a knack for the goals, which will suit your winger/playmaker-heavy lineup (perhaps even better than berbatov)... he will be able to feast on crosses from bentley, dos santos, and the rest. this could be a brilliant signing for spurs if it materializes.

yeah that would be cool. It's getting ridiculous with Berbs now. I'm sad it's come to this because he is such a great player and one of my favorites, but it's time for him to leave. Both him and the club need some closure on this already.

I don't understand why Spurs start to go for Veloso now that the window sonn will be shut. To get him would surely be insanely difficult.
