Thumbs up Looks like we are holding on to Berbatov

Quote:
Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon is confident Dimitar Berbatov will be with him at White Hart Lane next season.

<A HREF="http://a.tribalfusion.com/h.click/ammMvf2arRmEjAXF76UdM1oPYJpsYwoWYC5TQ73W6p5P7GnbnH XcfPXVQX0sfnnEbS3bnVWUbAVA7VQqb4ScUtQWUyYtfsTP3p2s U20U3AUmit5AF9RPMJ3tQs0WrDmt2x46nQ4GMcTc3bVVMYoHiT yg/1060615257" TARGET="_blank"><IMG SRC= WIDTH=300 HEIGHT=250 BORDER=0></A>
Berbatov's rookie season in the Premiership has brought 21 goals and a host of admirers, which has led to inevitable transfer speculation.

The 26-year-old has more than three years left on his contract and Lennon feels the Bulgaria striker can play a big part in the club's future.

Spurs missed out on silverware this season but could mount a challenge in their next campaign with Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe providing the goals and Lennon supplying the crosses.

'Berba has been a great player for us and it would be a massive loss to the club if we lost him in the summer, but I think Berba will be staying,' said Lennon on skysports.com.

'He seems very happy to me. He loves it down here, loves London and I don't think there will be a chance of Berba leaving.'

Berbatov's agent, Emil Dantchev, has stated that the striker does not want to move.

'Dimitar has his contract with Tottenham and he is happy there,' said Dantchev.

Meanwhile, Teemu Tainio is set to return to training following his ankle sprain.

'Anthony Gardner will also hopefully train on Wednesday, he's coming back and so is Benoit Assou-Ekotto, so it's looking better for us,' said Spurs boss Martin Jol on official website tottenhamhotspur.com.

Gardner has been out for nearly two months with a fractured fibula, while Assou-Ekotto has been out since February with a knee injury.

It will get tougher for him next season when all is more aware of him.

Do you mean to hold on to him or for him to keep scoring goals and playing well?

He still have a few years left on his contract so I think we'll be alright with that unless we get offered some sick amount of money for him, but to me it's tough to put a price on his value now because he is really just about the only reason we are even in with a shot at a UEFA spot for next season.

Even though it's his first season in the prem, he has been consistent throughout the season so I think it's just that he is very very crafty and good and it's difficult to contain him. I agree they will mark him more closely and tighten up on him, but then you'll get punished by Keane or Defoe because he is a genius at one touch passes to set through his striking partner.

No doubt though everyone knows he is for real now and they will give him the respect he is due.

When you have succeeded in the first season in a new club, it's always difficult to follow up the next season with same performance.

sure, you're right, but I think he has a lot more to offer still that he hasn't shown and the fact that we have a few quality strikers makes it difficult to mark him out of the game so I think he will be fine. He's not a show-off guy and he doesn't make any enemies on the pitch so I think he will continue to see improved success. He also creates a lot of opportunities and I think the more he learns the English style of football, the more he will offer in that area too.
