Keane on course for comeback
Quote:
Robbie Keane is on course to return to fitness in two or three weeks according to Tottenham boss Martin Jol.
The Republic of Ireland international has missed the last six games after suffering medial ligament damage against Middlesbrough on 5th December.
However Keane has now returned to light training and his rehabilitation is seemingly going according to schedule with Jol confident of welcoming his striker back to action by mid-January.
"Robbie has started to do some ball work," Jol told the club's official website.
"He's also done a lot of pool work so hopefully he'll be back in two, maybe three weeks' time."
Jermain Defoe has flourished in Keane's absence, with his brace against Aston Villa on Boxing Day taking his tally to six in the last five games for Spurs.
Fellow forward Mido also missed the win over Villa due to injury - but the Egyptian star only suffered a slight groin problem picked up in training.
Jol confirmed: "Mido was going to be on the bench if anything went wrong with Jermain Defoe or Dimitar Berbatov but we had a finishing session for the players who weren't involved at Newcastle and he got injured then."
