Default Jol hopeful Lennon will be ready for quarter final

Quote:
Tottenham coach Martin Jol has not ruled Aaron Lennon out of Wednesday night's Carling Cup quarter-final against Southend.

The England winger missed Sunday's first away win of the season at Manchester City after suffering slight inflammation in his knee.

But Jol claimed Lennon could still be considered for the cup tie at White Hart Lane.

'He had an operation earlier in the season and the inflammation came up again, so it was better for us to rest him,' said the Dutchman.

'It's something that comes and goes. Hopefully he'll be fit for selection on Wednesday, if not, we'll have to wait another week.'

Meanwhile, England under-21 midfielder Tom Huddlestone has labelled his stunning 20-yard strike against City as the best of his career to date.

It was Huddlestone's first goal for the club in the Barclays Premiership and only the fourth of his fledging career.

But Huddlestone said: 'I think it was the best, to be honest. I have been working on my shooting recently because it is a key element that I need to improve on.

'I didn't score in 98 games for Derby so I knew I needed to work it. I have been practising near-enough every day and hopefully it is coming good now. There is like a two or three second delay with it being an away game because our crowd weren't at the end I scored.

'I was checking I wasn't offside or anything like that and wasn't sure what to do, but the lads came over quickly to celebrate with me.

'We knew they would come out all guns blazing after half-time. They changed their system - which benefited them a lot - and we found it quite difficult. Once they got the goal it was just a case of fighting hard to keep our lead.'

Meanwhile, Club Brugge manager Marc Degryse has said they have been discussing a possible co-operation deal with Tottenham.

Manchester United have a similar arrangement with Royal Antwerp and Chelsea have close links with both Westerlo and PSV Eindhoven of Holland.

Now former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Degryse has now revealed Spurs are the latest Premiership side to look to Belgium for new talent.

Degryse said: 'We are supposed to fit in their plans for the long term. Tottenham want to use us to give players from their African academies a chance.'

Tottenham are proving to have some strength in depth these days, but Lennon is a key part of the team and one of the best players on the field.

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

probably malbranque, hes settled in pretty quickly, especially considering the injury he had when he joined.

yeah and he's a pretty decent player. Only thing is that Lennon adds a whole new dimension to the team. We'll have to hope he's back.
